Some shops may say it's XPEL but it might be Suntek, or worse 3M, but sell it like a higher end product with the higher end prices. Not many shops but there are the bad apples, so just be safe. Ask for some kind of proof of product, a box with the material in it, or paperwork showing they're a vendor. I've had that happen to me with tint in the past before I realized the mistake.
PPF has no markings or otherwise to show who made it so you can at least find out you're buying what they say you're buying. If it's 3M, go somewhere else. 3M PPF is not bad but XPEL/Suntek is just so much better. What pieces are you getting quoted for? Front bumper? Anything else? I had my entire car (not BMW) covered in Suntek (very close tied for 2nd, just a smidge behind XPEL) except for the roof and trunk lid. Most expensive mod I've done to my car. Full hood + Front quarters = $800 after dealing to get the other pieces later on, full front = about $400. Most places can offer a discount of a couple hundred if you do more than the front bumper, like the entire front end, if you haggle a bit. My out the door price for everything except trunk and roof combined was about $2400, normally would be about $3000 or so.

Jesus, you could almost vinyl the entire car for that.
