F31 xDrive N47 oil change

in the past all of my BMWs have had a door in the bottom engine cover which is used to access the oil drain plug. There is no door on my car just two openings in the under panel. It appears the the front opening is to provide access to the front differential and the smaller rear opening is to provide access to the drain plug which has a 17mm head. Could someone confirm that this is the oil drain plug?

Thanks, Darryl

that is how our F30 328D is laid out, including the 17mm socket to remove the oil drain plug.

Don't do the other one (front) it's definitely the transmission.

Remember to torque up to 25nm

An intelligent question. To the layman it would be easy to make the mistake of releasing the wrong plug.

The front plug is as the OP stated the front differential. The transmission drain is toward the rear behind the engine oil drain.

Thanks to everyone that responded. Oil change done successfully!

By the way, I got the BMW LL-04 oil from my dealer for $8.00/liter, they also gave me a substantial discount on the filter as a BMW CCA member.
