Shrinking Door Seals
Does anyone else have this problem?
I've been told that it's an all day job at the stealers as they have to take all of the glass out of the doors to fit the seals. As it's all one piece. Least it's all being replaced under warranty. |

Nothing like that so far on mine. When was your car built?

Had exactly same thing happening with my F31. Bulit June 2013. Car bought second hand and dealer refused to repair saying they got loose when they were power washing the car and I can just stretch them and repair myself?? After complaining they eventually agreed to pay to repair it (at a different dealer) and put new seals in. I saw that happening to several other cars, I wonder if it's a common problem.

Mine was built November 2013 so a little bit later. Not heard not before so hopefully just an issue with early cars or a batch around that time.

Just had both rears replaced under warranty. Exactly the same problem.

Does that mean they will proactively do something about it? Mine is June 2013 and the seals are a little higher than they should be but not as bad as cow pats.

No,Its just an issue that affects some earlier cars.Go to you're dealer they'll sort it under warranty.if they start talking pish, saying they've never heard of it,refer them to the Puma measure.

Just found this thread through a search as I have exactly this issue on my Aug 2012 F31. Does anyone know how much these new seals are or if there is any goodwill from BMW on this even though the car is out of warranty?

For anyone that's interested, BMW did replace my seals free of charge even though the car is out of the New Car Warranty and seals are not covered by my Approved Used Warranty.

Just pointed my mate to this thread. He bought a 13 plate F31 as an ex-demonstrator and his was like that when he acquired it. He thought it was normal. Not unduly worried now as he has just chopped it in for a new X3.

so it looks like I have this issue too (presume the line in red is where it should be flush with the door?). May 13 build. Both sides are like this. Car was supplied like this from AUC 4 weeks ago but have now done a couple of thousand miles.
Supplying dealer is 3 hours away, can I just rock up to a local dealer and quote the PUMA? - presume this doesn't really cost the rectifying dealer anything?

I very much doubt you could just arrive expecting it to be done there and then.

Absolutely, what I am wondering is, with an AUC car, if I can just approach any dealer that is local to me?
