Need help with Gladens

Got my Gladen today and Im super confused !?

I thought it would be all plug and play ? Can anyone who has fitted this give me an insight? Without adding an amp

Also is the subwoofer grill supposed to come off the oem subwoofer?

They are a physical plug and play, but the wiring will depend on what you already have. If you've got the poverty spec (no tweeters), then you'll need to add the cross over and tweeters. If you've got tweeters already, then I'm not sure...

You keep the grills from the stock subs.

There's a good write up here:

Ive got tweeters and cross over with the gladen package. Ive read that right up but becauses hes got the full wiring kit and is connecting it to the amp its fine

As far as i know the subs + speakers have a sqaure blue four pin plug ?

The gladen speakers have + and - inputs so how does that go into the sqaure blue plug ?!!

Use scotch locks to tap the wires going to the plug

Nothing wrong with scotch locks! To solder would mean cutting off the oem plug making returning to standard much harder!

There is plenty wrong with them. A rubbish connection which easily gives way. Haven't ever seen too many pro cars with them being used. Going back to standard is simple with a soldered connection, simply heat to split the existing joint and solder on the standard one again. Simple

It's plug and play to the extent that the speakers are the same physical size with the same mounting holes etc. However, you'll need to cut and solder (or use Scotch Locks) to make the electrical connections. The link I gave above goes through the whole process. If you're not doing the amp install, then it's simpler/different but the speaker bits are the same.

I'd recommend you read the link through a few times before you start and then be prepared to learn as you go - it's not a hard job , but you need to get your head around the process and then work methodically.

In which case go to a professional installer. There's no such thing as a plug and play speaker upgrade that's worth having if you've got poverty spec base audio.

I think I can manage.

I just want to have everything I need to finish it off in one days thats all.

So all need to do is use some crimps to the oem connector to the speaker

Would spade crimps do?

Just the cross overs pal,

Looks like one side connects to tweeter and the other side connects to the speaker (in that case some bullet connectors)

No cables? I got the MB Quart speakers for my E90 and they came with the cables to go from the crossovers to the tweeters and mids!

Yes I have that Teaston, sorry for confusion

The crossover includes the wiring to the tweeter and mids!

Ive got most size of crimps and vibe speaker wire, all I need to buy is bullet connectors from factory wire to crossover.

I dont think Il need scotch locks. However would the spade connectors fit into factory wiring ? Or is the spade connector to far apart for the mids anyways? Since the link that was provided before shows the spade connectors are fine for the subs

Why do you need bullet connectors?

All you need is to tap the sub wires to connect to new sub, two fork crimps in the original sub connector to feed the signal to the outer small wires in the sub connector which goes to the door speakers, the tap the door speaker cable to feed the crossover.

Then obviously the cables that go from the crossover to the new mids and tweeters.

Two of the wires that are coming out of the crossover which connects to the mid range ? Has bullet styled outputs.
