Help

I've only had the car a couple of weeks, but as it reaches about 2k the car shudders and coughs. It does this very slightly in 3rd gear, but it's a lot worse in second. When I put it in sport it happens further up the Rev range. It's booked into the garage tomorrow, but any ideas?

Something in the EGR system could have a fault. Sticking EGR valves are known to cause this sort of issue.

Your description doesn't quite fit the above (depends partly on the engine loads involved) but could still be related.

How many miles has the car done? Do you normally use Supermarket fuel and do short journeys?

Might be worth putting some decent Shell diesel through it and taking it for a long distance blast.

Otherwise could be an EGR problem, i assume the car is under warranty still so shouldnt be a problem

Have a look for any split or loose air inlet hose,

Check your filter housing.

Not quite the same, however had a split air hose one time (different car) and it was the culprit.

Other than that as mentioned, try some decent fuel, give a good long drive in Sport keeping the revs high, at least 30 miles.

Then it's a case of dealers, although tbh, I would just dealer it anywhere as its under warranty.

Thanks for the replys, it's a diesel, long journeys to work and it's run on shell (most of the time) It's under warranty and it's only done 11000 miles, oh and now I've got a bloody nail in the tyre.......

As Nick would likely say, this is your penance for buying a diesel

Looks like it could be a dealer trip.
