Disabling PDC and rear camera

Does anyone know if it's possible to completely disable the parking sensors and rearview camera in a 2013 F30? I know that I can hit the button to turn it off, but it comes back on the next time the car is shifted into reverse.

I'm hoping to find a way to do this so that my car can be used for a driving test (I know it's crazy, but bear with me) and the DMV requires that all cameras and sensors be disabled once the car is turned on.

Meanwhile the NHTSA requires rear views in all cars sold as of 5/1/2018, and most will have it in the 2016 models.
I doubt it can be done without coding.

I would gladly pull its fuse but don't know which one it is and the diagram shows several different options that all overlap with some other important items.

You should be able to code it out.

Just remove the option codes that are the camera and pdc options.

Who wants to go thru this hassle for 1 hour driving exam? There has to be a better way--most cars don't even have "coding" as an option, but 1000s of people take driving exams every year. OP--call the DMV and ask them what they typically do.

The camera is easy: piece of electrical tape over it. You can also just be hyper diligent about turning it off via the button when it turns on. With so many cars with this feature, I wouldn't worry too much. You could also drive someone else's less sophisticated car!

Can't you just hit the "Options" button and shut down the screen?

I wish. Sadly the screen comes back on once the car goes in reverse.

Their standard line has been "all driving aids need to be disabled prior to starting the test."

I am considering doing this for the sensors too but I assume that the beeping will be constant.

It's easy to hide the visual aids by just using a paper to block the nav screen. It's only the incessant beeping of the sensors that's my last issue.

1. He asked if its possible

2. It would take me 5 minutes to code it out

3. Several responses more than 5 minutes of collective knowledge and no full solution. By the time you have read through all the responses and called the DMV I would have finished coding my car.

4. I don't see you suggesting anything "better" to do

5. And I presume we are talking about his F30, which can be coded.

Take a driving test on a car you are not familiar with? I would not advise a 16 year old to do this.

Perhaps--but if coding was a breeze and took 5 minutes, why doesn't everyone do it, and why do so many people need help, or professional coders to do it? If you don't think my suggestions are "better", that's fine. But again--1000s of people take driving tests every year, including in OP's state, and somehow this gets figured out without coding. I haven't been through it, so I don't know what it is.

Not be equipped with "specialized features" (such as backing sensors, back-up cameras, automatic parallel parking, etc) that would prevent an applicant from truly showing his/her driving skills and abilities. A vehicle will be rejected unless its "specialized features" can be turned-off or disabled and still be operated safely OR the road test examiner determines that the road test maneuvers can be performed without the assistance of the "specialized features."
There's an "OR" in there. The examiner has the ability to determine that the driver can perform the maneuvers without the assistance of the "specialized features".

I completely agree but there's one big problem. That leaves it at the discretion of the cop doing the test. I don't really want to leave it up to one person's opinion on the day of the test.

I agree 100%. But I've had 3 cars with back up cameras, and none of them can be disabled with the flip of a switch. In every one of them, you would have to select another function after you put the car in reverse. You are not the first one in this situation. So I have to believe that the rule is stricter than the practice. But there has to be some way to confirm this.

Any idea which fuse is the right one? And do you think this would kill the sensor beeping too?
