335i Msport Good Bye Advice

Hello fellow members
I want to get everyone’s expertise and experience for future planning of my major life decision. I have been serving in the U.S. Army for 16 years and as of last month I received the painful news that I have been selected to depart from the Army. I’m crushed to say the least since I love serving and the life style. Luckily, I have 16 years and qualify for early retirement with 42% and possible disability with optic nerve damage received from an IED blast in Iraq.

If you’re still reading thanks for your patience. This week my wife and I have done some number crunching and it will be in our best interest if we sell our pristine 2014 BMW 335i M sport. The current monthly payment is $683 and we are comfortable with $300 or lower payment instead. We discussed on purchasing an M3 later on in our journey when we have ridden the transition wave.

I have made my decision to sell my BMW when I get to San Antonio, Texas, in June timeframe. I’m currently stationed in Vicenza, Italy, leaving here in May and arriving in Fort Sam Houston by June. I plan to stay in San Antonio with hopes of getting a good job in- Public Relation-Strategic Communications-Media etc.

I don’t want to post the vehicle yet since I cannot make the transaction unless you’re in Italy, if so PM me. I’m doing my research now and trying to get all the knowledge to make this transaction happen as soon as I’m in Tx, June.
What advise can you give me as far as making an individual sell to a member on this forum or anyone in Tx.? What should I know and what could assist this process? What can make this go smoothly for both seller and buyer and any personal experiences?
Thanks again and if you’re interested in the timeframe I discussed, here is my baby’s info:
2014 BMW 335i Msport – No Mods- Purchased Dec 2014- GPS and XM has not been activated due to being in Italy- good option for you

Alpine White
Black leather interior
Automatic
Limiter removal
Black trim inside
GPS-
Comfort package
Heated front seats
19 rims
M sport brakes

I may have forgot couple things but will post a sale sticker when I post. Depending on a non hassle sell and getting asking price of 42k, I’ll throw in a set of 18 inch rims with winter tires with TPMS and roof rack rails from Thule, still haven’t decided.

Hooah!! I'm really sorry to hear about your RIF selection. There truly is no other life that demands so much and gives so much as the United States military.

I think one good option to consider would be selling the car within the military community in San Antonio. There should be no shortage of qualified buyers. USAA or PenFed would provide great sources of financing for a military buyer.

Are you considering pursuing employment with USAA in San Antonio?

Selling to military is a good idea and didn't think about that. I am planning on applying for Usaa and everywhere else..lol. It's hard for me to consider positions that don't include salary or benefits. I have a bachelors and masters so I'm hoping that helps. I am a Public Affairs officer and would like to continue that through public relations/communications.
Thanks for the kind words trooper!! Something tells me you served/serving

Thanks for your service, and sorry to hear you have to sell. If you didn't already know, there is a members classified section here on f30.bimmerpost where you can list the car when ready.

Also a good place to see what's going on in the f3x marketplace to compare. Good luck!

Thanks for your service OP!!

Would you be able to sell to other service members in Italy? that's tempting so you don't have to transport the car back to the US.

As a general rule, seems like finding a private buyer gets you the most money for a used car in the US, so selling the car when you get to TX would be the way to go if possible.

If your new car is a CPO or used BMW you might be able to work something you with a good client adviser in TX as well (one example to get in the $300/mo range would be to lease a demo 2015 3 series)

Unfortunately, the culture here in Vicenza is geared towards buying a hooptie to get them though their 2 or 3 year service in Italy. So more expensive cars are on a special basis like another BMW enthusiaist

Very sorry to hear about the eye damage. I'm sure you have considered shipping the car early, so it will be available to show/sell as soon as boots hit the ground, and you're still active duty.

If it doesn't sell within your time frame, consider CarMax. I sold a Merc that I hated to get back in the Bimmer family. It could not have been a cleaner or neater transaction. I got what I consider 'high wholesale'.

Thanks for the carmax idea, I didn't think about that. Wife and I discussed of the possibility of not finding a buyer and biting the bullet and selling to dealership/trade
