Hi guys,
As per thread title, am after an F30 335i rear muffler to add to my 328i. I am in Sydney, so happy to pickup from another Sydney member. Let me know. Cheers Dom |

i personally wouldn't spend more than 400 on the stock muffler though

That second F80 exhaust looks more like it. Would be an interesting mod to attempt, would definitely need to chop the diffuser, which would leave a funny exhaust outlet further to the left (I believe the F80 outlets are closer to the centre of the car). Or buy one of the F80 rear bumpers off ebay...
Either way, I bought the $400 exhaust off ebay and collected it last weekend. Have already bought a diffuser to suit my msport bumper from BMW ($120 ish, so pretty happy at that). So, hopefully will be fitted by the weekend. Just trying to tee up an exhaust shop on the northern beaches that isn't flat out before the long weekend. I am open to any recommendation if anyone has had dealings with a good quality shop around these parts. |

Car is booked in for tomorrow. Will get some before and after videos for everyones reference.
evobda2 - Give me a week to make sure there is no drone and I am happy with the new exhaust, then we can have a chat. The exhaust will be rear axle only, the front pipe that came with the exhaust had some dents/bends in it so I won't be using it. |

^ Gee you are keen x328x.
So, 335i muffler successfully installed on my 328. It sounds pretty tough, and a bit louder than expected. I had the leftover mid pipes from the 335i system running from the boot through the seats, so this may have amplified the sound somewhat. I took a cold start video of the standard exhaust this morning, so will get a cold start of the new one in the next few days. Overall impression, yes sounds good. It may be a little droney, so will let it settle for a few days and see how it turns out. The exhaust guy said the pipe size was the same on the rear section of the exhaust between 335 and 328, where I had read the 335 was a little bigger. Either way, not a big issue, it was welded up so all good. So, I am happy it is installed, the back of the car looks so much better with exhausts on either side, and the extra noise is a plus. Will get back to everyone when I take the extra pipes out and close up the rear seats. And yes, I will get a video up, cos it did happen! |

It's something I have thought about but just needed more convincing.
When driving spiritedly is there popping when gearing up. How about any burbling/ crackle when revs dropping and down gearing |

Do it, you won't be unhappy. You do get the "fart" on upshift on WOT in Sport, which sounds kinda cool, I had been driving like a dickhead just to hear it! I haven't noticed any burbling and crackling on downshift so far. But it will probably need a few more kms on it before I hear the true sound. Will still post a cold start video this weekend too.
I intend on going to the next Sydney coding/meet, will be more than happy to show everyone first hand then. |
