Chrome trim

Hi folks,

anyone knows a place where I could buy a chrome trim around windows?
I have black plastic one, and I hate it really much.

That trim is available new from your dealer or perhaps used from an auto parts breaker. This aluminum trim comes in chrome, gloss black & matt black. Use an online parts catalog to find the part numbers, such as: http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/F3...e/vehicle_trim

Someone in classifieds wants to swap, might be worth looking at it.

funny, I wanted the exactly opposite, so I wrapped all my chrome gloss black 3M vinyl.

looks like there is some chrome 3M vinyl wrap available, not sure how good it looks in person though. that would be the cheapest solution, besides finding a deal with someone selling their old trim

There's a guide how to do it. It's not trivial to swap from an existing car, main challenge is removing the window chrome trim from the donor car without damaging it. You need to remove the rear view mirror as well.

I looked a bit into the topic and you have several options:

a) cover the existing trim with chrome vinyl wrap
b) get an overlay chrome aluminum kit, such as this or this one - around 250 euros, easy installation
c) go according the above instructions, remove current trim, install new trim - around 520 euros (here, here - both are in US)

Good luck!

GoranBonn, thanks for usefull answers

If I decide to choose option B, can you please tell me:
- which one to choose from these 2?
- will it look like oem when I put it?

Kind regards!

Nema problema I have no idea, I haven't tried either one. One is in Germany, another in Italy, so shipping costs to you might be a deciding factor. I'm not fully sure either one is producing their own product, rather reselling from somewhere.

As for the last question, I also wonder if it will look OEM, I'm still on the fence whether to buy one myself. If you decide to buy one, post pictures!

The only thing I can say is that I bought a stick-on chrome trim for the air conditioning console as my car is "no line" so the trim was dull black plastic. And it does look OEM, no visual issues whatsoever, identical to the chrome line on the dashboard. (which is also plastic btw on the OEM product.)

Hi people!

I've installed everything and now everything looks great, much better than before. It's not 100% OEM look because of construction of body, but it looks 98% perfect so I'm realy satisfied. Here you can take a look how was it before and after.
