3,000+ Mile Roadtrip! **PICTURE HEAVY**

I just got back from a 3,000+ mile road trip from Utah to Chicago and back so that I could trade-in my 2014 328xi for an identical 2014 335xi. Yes, alpine white with coral red in an MSport package is that hard to find right now! =(

I'll post more details about the new car in a journal, but in summary, it was well worth the long drive!

Kudos to BMW as I got physically tired of driving without ever feeling uncomfortable in my seat. We averaged 9 hours a day for 6 days straight at 80mph! The navigation was amazing as well. Many times the iPhone would get confused but the car never did.

The trip took us on I-70 through the Rocky Mountains to Denver, Colorado. From there we traveled on I-80 to Omaha, Nebraska, then to Chicago, Illinois. After spending a day in Chicago to buy the new car and explore the city, we traveled back on I-90 through Wisconsin, South Dakota, and Wyoming.

A lot of the trip was boring flat road. The sections that were exciting in a BMW and allowed for some spirited driving include I-70 approaching Denver, Veil, Colorado, the Black Hills in South Dakota, and I-80 near Park City, Utah. Don't even get me started about the toll traffic in Chicago...

The military museum in Lexington, Nebraska and Mount Rushmore in South Dakota are well worth the visit.

So without further ado, the pictures!

Fantastic trip! The 335 looks great.

I have to single out this image, I think it's wonderfully captured.

Thanks guys! That's the same image I would have picked myself. It was just a matter of luck given the low lighting conditions and a slow shutter on an iPhone. Makes me think it's time to take some high speed blur shots and light painting with a DSLR to make some wallpapers.

Superb thread. Those mountains in the background of your first pic look like they'd be awesome to arse down on a mountain bike. Much mountain biking there?

Yes, there is a TON of mountain biking here in Utah. All the ski resorts have summer passes with downhill single tracks, you can find elevated trick tracks in the mountains along with great trails, and southern Utah has all the slick rock areas where you can literally go anywhere.

My favorite trails are Alpine Loop in Utah Valley which provides panoramic views of multiple valleys and Bomber trail at Brianhead resort which is 40+ miles of nothing but technical downhill.

It's also a fun place to drive a sports car! Pick any canyon and you'll have fun.

Living the mountain biking dream right there. Good for you. Yours, Mr Green Face.

Awesome thread and looks like it was fun. I am actually going to be doing something similar next weekend myself. Will be driving around 1500 km's in my M3 to swap my car for a 440i xDrive GC and then slide into States (Seattle side) and drive back. Perhaps I will try to take a few pictures along the way and document everything.
