Decoding the X3 options
Hi, I'm a 3-series owner, and I finally convinced my husband that he should get an X3. He wants to buy a used (2006) X3, so I'm helping with the research. In the various descriptions for X3s they use codes to describe the options. I can decipher some of them, but I'm stumped on others, and was hoping someone out there can help. For instance, I can figure out that CWP means "cold weather package" and PDC means "park distance control", but there is a long list of others that I don't know. They include: BKS, WT, ST, OBC, HDC, PS2, BK, 1K, K1, WO.
Can someone either decode these for me, or point me to a source that has all of the codes? Thanks! Kim |

Most BMW codes are in series of 3 digits.
Some are make/model specific...others are universal. Like: 6FL= USB adapter 655= Sat Radio 653= HD radio 693= Sat radio preparation 522= Xeon adaptive head lights Someone correct me if I am wrong....but I don't believe the x3 has a programmable on board computer like the E90s do. It has a simple one that displays miles left, avg speed, and MPG. The programmable computer lets you turn on or off daytime running lights, set time for auto shut off of head lights, adjust seats & mirrors for specific key fobs et. et.

As smellthebeans says, these are not BMW option codes but just whatever the advertiser has come up with in terms of abbreviations.

also, if i were buying an X3, i would definitely go for an 07+ model. the changes to the car were really important (new engine, transmission, suspension and updated x-drive). some of these components come off the E9X 3-series, which are big improvements.

If it helps...
http://www.bmwarchiv.de/vin/ Introduce last 7 VIN digits and see what pops out. Real interesting in terms of what your car has. |
