MPPSK on new lease??? Help with decision

Just leased a 2017 340i. It is loaded to the gills with virtually every available option including the 2017 M Performance Kit (splitter, carbon spolier, etc). Has the Track pack, rear shades, carplay, the works. The deal was simply amazing....$540/mo. on a $63,360 car with only $900 in decap.

Anyway, love the car - but the MPPSK is tempting me each and every day. My dealer is offering the axle back MPE for about $1600 installed or the MPPSK with chrome tips for about $3300 installed. I want to say that I am planning on buying my car when the lease is over, but the reality is that I will probably order the M340i with a few months left on my lease.

Sooooo.....while I know the MPPSK will provide many months of grins, I am wrestling with putting out the cash when I know it will basically be used for 35 months and then go to a new lucky owner. The MPE sounds like a better value proposition, but even that seems expense for that it is. I vacillate between saying just go for it, it is worth the $3300 for 35 months of pure joy....to what a waste of money for only 35 months....to just do the exhaust, that will make you smile....to don't do anything, the car is awesome stock and it is leased.

I could also go JB4 plus AWE touring exhaust for about $2600, but I would much rather stick with OEM for all the reasons debated far too many times on this forum. I guess the real question at issue is whether the $3300 is worth the improvement to the car for 35 months of "ownership" or whether I should simply tell myself that it would have been nice as PIA, but to let it go and wait for the M340i before I can have any real fun! Any thoughts on this are appreciated from the peanut gallery!

I have a 335 and my dealer quoted me $1000 for the MPE and $1485 for the MPPK installed. Are the MPE and MPPK that much more for the 340?

I believe they are completely different. The MPPSK for the 340i has an MSRP of $2,850 and the chrome tips are another $270 - so $3,120 before any discounts plus labor and taxes. Not sure the difference on the MPE for the 340 vs the 335, but I do think the MSRP on the 340i MPE is around $1600.

Indeed. Which is precisely why I am looking for some advice from the great folks on this forum. Is the price too steep for 35 months? Or is the $94/mo. worth the upgrade?

Essentially the MSRP on the car would have been $66,480 had it also come equipped with MPPSK as Port Installed - and my current lease payment is $540/mo. Adding the MPPSK essentially creates a lease payment of $634/mo., which would still be under 1%. So maybe the "investment" is worth it???

did you put any money up front to get 540/month for your lease?

Wondering about this as well.

As far as the investment is 'worth it' - really only you can answer that question, based on your financial situation, and how much value you place on having it installed on your car.

I "put down" $800. More specifically, I paid all my fees upfront (doc fee, acq fee, first month, AZ registration) and then decapped the cap cost by $800. For those of you in other states, might want to thank you local DMV when you hear our license and registration fees.....mine were almost $900 for the year on this car. Was nearly $1200 for the first year in my 550i. OUCH indeed.

Thanks - at least one vote in that it is worth the money even on a lease. Anyone else?

Loaded to the gills eh? You are going to feel bad when I pull up next to you with my MPPSK, you are going to feel really bad when you hear my MPPSK and you are going to feel really really bad watching my tail lites pull away from you. JUST DO IT!

edit: well OK I might not pull your JB4 equipped 340 but ... for me MPPSK "completed" my 340. Until I do the next Mod anyway.

edit of my edit: I get carried away about MPPSK sometimes but it's made me a sixtyone year old teenager, I really like it that much. Maybe you will too and what is that worth?

I had a feeling the fine folks here would cost me some money! So far no votes for crazy to add MPPSK to a lease....who knows, maybe it will be so good with the MPPSK that I end up buying it out of lease? OTOH....the new M340i is probably going to be awfully tempting!

Have the MPPSK port installed if the car is being built. The price will be residualized into the lease. If car is on the lot, I would simply have a MPE mid pipe installed. It pairs well with the oem exhaust or MPE down the road. My 2 cents

Its hard to say whether its worth it or not. Personally, I would probably do it, as I drive quite a bit and making my commute more enjoyable is worth it IMO.

I did NOT do it. I'm a year in and it's no longer worth it for me. When I got my car (2017 340) MPPSK was not available as a port installed option. If it were offered as port installed, I definitely would have done it. Now to pay 3k and to have to return it, I just couldn't do it...

You can buy a lot stuff for 3300 bucks that you get to keep. If I had bought my car and planned to keep it, yes...

But for me, 3300 is like a whole new entertainment center in my basement, a bad ass outdoor fireplace, a new guitar and computer with pro-tools...

So after the fact, on a lease... I didn't go for it. I do at times regret it, but maybe the next car... I'm already gonna take a bath on the miles...

Garage List
The MPPSK invoices around $2500. If its on the lease at invoice your actual out of pocket as part of the monthly payment is around $1100 spread over 3 years. Rough numbers. Actual will depend on money factor & depreciation.

Make the deal I will buy the car from you if you go invoice on the MPPSK. Otherwise get a JB4.

Mine was a free port install & part of the lease $ 2450. Have a good deal on the money factor with MSD's so it was a no brainer.

I leased my 340i - no MPPSK. And then a few weeks later had it put on, out of pocket. Obviously this is not the recommended way to do it b/c it's expensive, but I'm thrilled with it. As I said, if you can afford it, do it. The MPPSK changes the car, in a good way.

I was a moron, drug my feet and didn't put it on my order primarily because when watching the videos online I just wasn't sure the sound fit the car. 6 months later I had it put on yesterday and just could not be happier.

Sure it would have been better to have added to your lease but at the end of the day you made a $1500 mistake. I can guarantee you that the day you drive it home with the kit on you'll forget all about what you just spent.

when i had my 320, i would feel a little guilty putting the car in Sport mode b/c it meant I was driving like a hooligan and wasting gas.

with my 340 mppsk, i feel guilty whenever i put the car in Comfort -- which hardly ever happens. must...feed...the...beast

GetBMWparts.com has it for much cheaper and you don’t pay sales tax or shipping. Only need to pay to have it installed after they send it to you.

Im leasing and have a full AWE exhaust. Such a deep tone. At least 2.5x louder than stock and it pops a lott more haha. I'll just put the old one back in when I return. Returning in 2019 and hoping to get the M340i
