Hello - Dark Graphite
Hi Fellas,
Here from downunder. I must be a little thick, but I can't seem to find the official picture thread for the new X3. I'm searching high and low for photos of the M40i in Dark Graphite/Sophisto Grey as this is what I have on order. Australian X3 M40is only go into production in April so I've got some time to play around with specifications. I'm worried the Dark Graphite is going to be a maintenance nightmare, but there's no other lighter grey options other than Glacier Silver. I notice you guys also don't seem to have the Fiona Red/Black Merino leather interior as an option. Is that correct Cheers. Please don't abuse me if this post is in the incorrect thread. lol |

We are really liking the paint scheme and would choose again, but such a personal decision would leave that up to you. And you are correct that we in the USA don't have the option for any of the Merino leather yet, but our Canadian colleagues do and some have them on their orders. Hopefully we should be getting some photos soon. Welcome to the G01 X3 realm! |

Welcome to the expecting X3 club. I have a merino extended leather on order. I was going to get the Fiona red and black with the blue exterior, but after seeing the blue I think that it would be a better option with a black car. When I saw the sample of Fiona red in the showroom I was surprised - it reminds me of Fox Red from the E92 M3. I chose Tartuffo with Sonnenstein metallic. |

Thanks, build date was December 4, with the shortage of rail cars at the moment I am not expecting to see it until January. Once it arrives I will post pictures.

I have dark graphite but in 30i and I like it. This color will be easier to maintain than black

Dark Graphite/Sophisto Grey, you will not be disappointed. It is a classic color, surpassed the test of time.
Looks great in person, pics are sometimes hard to get true colors. I had DGraphite on X5, great choice. 2 weeks ago I saw on at dealer on G01, looked exactly the same as as on X5, sharp. |

Thank you for the reply guys and for links to photos.
Your cars are looking great. Bummed we have to wait so long just for Oz vehicles to go into production. My car should look like the one below with the 21" alloys. Would I be right in saying it's hard to capture just how metallic Dark Graphite actually appears in sunlight How have you guys found this colour with swirl marks? |

This metallic paint is amazing in different lighting conditions, which is one reason it is so interesting to see photos shared by others, even if the same color. Not sure if you saw this in the other thread I mentioned, but I'll repost here for ease of reference. I'm comparing our car in three different lighting conditions (inside lighting at the Dealership, early morning outside, and late afternoon outside) to the image on the BMW website. Same color, but quite a different feel as the metallic flakes take on the chameleon-like ability to change the appearance. And so far, even after a few washings no swirls, but can't share a long-term experience yet. |

The 21" are standard on the M40i's here in Australia. I have been searching through that thread. Some great pictures and really informative comparison shots in there between the new X3 and the old one. |

So if you do prefer contrast one of the other colors may work better for you? |
