Navigation slow UPDATE: UK-specific issue with RTTI

Check out the video guys, need some help as the navigation has gone slow for some reason

Is there a way of resetting the navigation/idrive or reloading same version of maps?

Headunit or Combox might be going? Never seen that before! Hopefully it goes away but when I had issues with CUE (Cadillac's system) I would pull the power from the car (negative battery terminal) for 10 minutes then check again and all of a sudden, it would work again. Ultimately, they replaced my CUE system TWICE before it was totaled.

Dealer called today & said technician thinks the navigation seems to working fine, so I sent them the video & got a call half an hour later to admit it is running slow & have sent an email to Germany together with my video & are waiting for instructions what steps to take next surely the first thing you'd do is reload the latest map software to see if that helps

Quite possible the harddisk has bad blocks and difficulty reading from it. Dealer will hopefully be told to swap for a refurbished unit. For some reason BMW doesn't permit dealers to swap the harddisk, even though it's not terribly difficult to get to.

Dealer called today & suspected the maps software wasn't legit , soon became speechless when I told them it was downloaded from ConnectedDrive website, they then asked for proof so I sent them the email receipt, they've kept the car over night so they can look into it further & maybe reload the software just in case its got a glitch & see what BMW say.

See what happens Friday.

Update,

BMW have advised the dealer to format the navigation drive & start from the beginning loading the maps to present day, just waiting for a loan car to be delivered to use over the weekend.

Got car back today, still takes a while to process before it zooms in & starts, im starting to think its the 2018-1 map its self. I need to see a couple of more videos from other users if possible for me to fully accept it so if some people are willing to post some vid's id appreciate it.

I installed the 2018-1 map back in November - thinking about it, the nav interface started to feel slow pretty much after I renewed RTTI in January...

Do you know if BMW updated any software in your car? Or did they just reupload the map?

For now, your video is pretty consistent with my experience... I am going back to the 2017-1 map to see if things improve.

Fist time they updated something & did a battery reset as I have lost the LIM button function on my steering wheel, the second time they formatted the drive & reloaded the maps from 2013 to 2018 one by one! they had the car over the weekend. Today I needed to use POI to find a fuel station....bollox did it work! then when I did find a station I set my home address to come home & it took almost 2 mins to start, I have sent an email to the service manager together with the 2 video files........to be continued

I have had the same issue - maps were updated in Jan but issue has started more recently (first noticed last week, but had not planned a route for a while). I did some trial and error testing and it is RTTI related. Disable RTTI and the performance returns to normal. Reactivate RTTI and it's hosed again.

I wonder if they have changed the data that RTTI pushes out (maybe more detailed info) and it is overloading the CPU in the satnav... it certainly feels like it is just grinding through data as i will eventually come up with a route (most of the time).

Main symptoms:
- Recent destinations takes forever to load
- Route calculation takes a minute or mode (after the "fast route" prompt)
- Recalculation due to traffic conditions takes a minute (during which time you don't get any nav prompts.

Given this started for a number of us very recently I don't think it is likely to be hardware failure - much more likely to be an issue with the RTTI data not working with certain SatNav systems

FWIW mine has Pro Media, reg date was Jan 2015, I think the build date was Nov 2014.

Please let me know what the dealer says - my mfr warranty just expired but I extended it with BMW for 12 months.

evdok - just noticed you car is a 330d xdrive msport too spooky.

So you, me and @x-m4n are running 2018-1 maps with RTTI in 2014/15 models.

Anyone else with that combo have issues?
Anyone with that combo in a 2014/15 vehicle with route calculation working fine?
Anyone with a different combo having issues?

For me, it was working fine for weeks after the 2018-1 update and RTTI has been enabled since new. I think something else changed.

Update: Just called Concierge Services - first time ever!

They first told me the service was "down, and they expect it to be back up on Tuesday". When I pointed out that I was actually getting RTTI, it was just killing my Nav they clarified to say "there are issue, and they hope to resolve by Tuesday"

Let's see what Tuesday brings!
