Air & Cabin Filter

Hey guys, are you all just buying your filters directly from the dealer? The air filter is $40 and the cabin filter is $80. Not super expensive, but are there cheaper alternatives locally?

Last time I checked; it was about $20-$65 for Air and $30-$85 for micro air, both of which are aftermarket. Low cost ones are basic and higher cost ones are the premium washable/reusable ones.

I'm pretty sure they're all the same...I'm a brand whore so I would go OEM.

check autopartsway.ca. I always order OEM replacement stuff from them. good markdowns from dealer prices and quick shipping out of Canada so no surprises.

Hmm don't see OEM parts for my filters? Still good pricing though thanks. K&N filter worth it btw?

Mixed reviews... I guess because many will over oil the filter when it's time to clean/recharge, they'd damage their MAP sensors and not recommend to the next potential buyer. It does give better air flow but some may argue that it's also letting more particles into your engine. Mind you, I used to use them for all my cars prior to this one and I honestly do feel a difference(may just be mental). I lost the old filter before and it's a pain when you need to recharge it without a spare, you can't use your car for like 12 hrs(probably less but they say don't oil until completely dry and I like to let the oil cure as well), I just didn't want to deal with it anymore.

https://order.germanparts.ca/index.html

Try searching there. They usually have both OEM and aftermarket alternatives and are local.

I swapped my OEM air filter with an Active Autoworks one on my last m3 and felt zero difference whatsover lol

Ahh okay. I don't see BMW branded ones, guessing the ones they carry are the same ones from BMW?

I'm not 100% sure how the air and cabin filter works. I believe the MANN ones are the OEM ones.

Mann/Mahle are generally OEM suppliers. But no they are not 'true' OEM.
