Question Steering wheel heavy on highway - configurable?

Just picked up my M40i tonight and have been slowly playing with it and trying to learn. I find the steering to be very heavy on the highway - aka more effort to move it. Out of the gate I kinda dislike this, though maybe I’ll get use to and or begin to like it. Regardless, I’m sure this has been discussed I’m just not really sure what it’s called. Is it a configurable option! I was playing mostly in comfort mode where I woulda though it woulda felt the lightest if anything.

Don’t hesitate to point me to an existing thread if appropriate.

have a look at the Drive Experience Switch in the manual. you might be able to configure the steering to your liking in the individual driving modes.

A heavy wheel is desired in a sports car. This one is still light but headed in the right direction.

If I could make just one change to my car, it would be for lighter steering in comfort mode at highway speeds. It really is TOO heavy for "comfort" and I'm not exactly weak or small. I have a feeling the car has loosened up a little OR I've got used to it though as I didn't really think about it when on a similar run this week.

I couldn't see any way to change it......unless changing to 'sport' under it's individual is actually lighter....hmmm...need to try that as I hadn't used Sport on the 'highway'.

What driving mode are you in. Sports mode and Adaptive can change the feel slightly.

Maybe you'll get used to the feel as you start to get used to the car.

In any case, you're going to love it.

Hi, I wondered how you were getting on with the steering now that you've had the car for a while? All the best.

Totally used to it and have zero complaints about the steering now a days. I'm betting if I went back to my previous car i'd complain that the steering was too light in it. While i've owned some moderately powerful vehicles, this is the first of which i'd consider sporty, so I think it was simply needing time to adjust.
