I've never heard of EDT. I know it as EST (Eastern Standard Time).

Easter Daylight Time.

Daylight Savings Time is in effect more than Eastern Standard Time.

DST moved forward Sunday March 11 and ends on November 4th in USA

In other words, it’s EDT 8 months of the year and EST 4 months of the year.

EST is +5 hours from Greenwich Mean Time (UTM) and and EDT is +4 from UMT.
