Do the Wing mirrors tilt when reversing?

Anyone know if you get the wing mirrors to tilt downwards when reversing?

Tried it from a youtube video, but doesn't appear to work and nothing mentioned in the manual.

There is one other user on the forum whose passenger mirror does not go down in reverse.

If the mirror adjustment switch is set to the left AND it set's in your driver profile, it should work.

What do the memory seats have to do with the wing mirrors FFS?

I don't have memory seats, but as standard the mirror should tilt when reversing...

Can anyone else try this out on there and confirm what's the score?

I have memory seats...

I have folding & auto dimming mirrors...

When adjustment switch is to drivers side then the mirror dips on reverse... I have mine switched off as it doesn’t help me

That’s been the BMW way for years.

Presumably because when the mirror tilts, it has to then come back to the same position. The position it comes back to is stored as part of the memory for the seat and both exterior mirrors.

You should only need the folding mirror option for this to work according to options list

Not sure if this will work but try selecting reverse then tilt passenger mirror down to where you want then put back mirror selector to drivers position whilst still in reverse and then put car into drive and see if it goes back up?

Are you sure? Certainly in the UK it's passenger side only (and has been for 2 decades).

It is the passenger side (away from the driver, regardless of RHD or LHD). The main purpose of this to allow the driver to see how far away they are from the curb.

That's so weird. I wonder if BMW is miswiring/misconfiguring some cars?

Here's an excerpt from the US manual (I thought it would be the same for the UK).

My reverse dipping mirror I s on the passenger side and I'm in UK, I believe that is the correct side as it gives a view of the blind side of car when reversing, it is possible they may have mis-wired yours?

Is your photochromic dimming mirror on drivers side?

I have folding mirrors (not memory seats)

Here in the UK passenger side is left.

No matter which side I set the switch too and then hitting reverse, NONE of the wing mirrors tilt.

Some of you are saying only works if have memory seats (which is plain stupid from BMW if that is the case) and others are saying it works if you have folding mirrors.

Can we get a definitive answer. I would expect the Passenger side to tilt at the very least. Here is a thought, would the tilt have been de-activated by BMW because I have the reversing camera?

I think it’s us who have our crossed wires... sorry guys... I was referring to the switch... the mirror adjustment switch is set to the drivers side... but the passenger mirror is the one that dips! Lol

This is also odd for me as my previous Audi did the same but only when the mirro adjustment was set to the passenger...
