Need advise installing M2 muffler on 435

I pulled the lower grey valance thinking I would just trim it and be all ready to have the muffler swapped out but when I removed the valance there is this white plastic piece with wires attached. Does anyone know what it is? Along the bottom of the white piece there is a flexible black tube with a wire attached running along the very bottom of the white bracket and a flat black strip with a wire attached near the top of the white bracket . On the left side is a terminal block. Can I trim the white piece and just tuck the wires in back? HELP

UPDATE: some more info

I removed the white plastic piece, it snaps into the bumper under the bumper cover and there are two small wire connections. I unplugged both of them and completely removed the white plastic piece. The two black pieces (the black tube along the bottom of the white bracket and the black flat piece along the top of the white bracket) must be for the proximity lock/unlock feature and for the wave your foot under the bumper feature because neither of them work now. I have to use the remote to lock/unlock the doors. So I think I need to figure out how to shorten the white plastic piece and re-engineer the mounting of the black strip and black tube. The problem is they are both too long to fit between the quad exhaust tips. Any suggestions?

Thanks

The offending piece

So here is the little rascal. I am thinking re-position the tube from the bottom to the top with zip ties where it won't be in the way of the exhaust tips and re-position the black electric block where the wires clip in to somewhere in the middle. Then trim both sides of the white plastic mounting piece for the tips. Thoughts?

Problem resolved

Simple mod, trimmed the lower corners of the white plastic piece to make room for the quad tips and moved both ends of the flexible black tube up underneath the black flat strip and zip tied them in place. Everything fits nicely. Job done.

Sound is much louder, more in character with the car. Stock exhaust is too quiet, Lexus like to my ear.

Nice! I've thought about doing this, just haven't had any luck finding an M2 muffler. Thank you for documenting your process!

Was the exhaust a clamp on job or did you have to weld it/fabricate some piping to make it work? I looked at a local m235 M Performance exhaust, but the axle back looked like the piping needed to be extended to mate up to the factory 335i exhaust.

Keep looking for one on the M2 forum items for sale.

I had a local muffler shop install it, they flaired the pipe and welded it in place. 45 minutes and $75 later I was on my way.

Thanks for experimenting and sharing! I'm in the process of doing this to my 335i. This is very helpful.

I just realized that I haven't taken pictures for you. My bad. Here is how my exhaust stay on the car. It's a bit lower than the white part.
Can you post some pictures of your rear end?

Here is mine. It's tucked up higher than yours. It was installed using the stock muffler hangers. It turned out great.

Worked on 335i

This was a big help when I installed an M2 muffler on my 335i. I bought a 328 aftermarket diffuser and went to town on it. Not a perfect cut, but I'm happy with how everything turned out.

For me the cut was about 4" back from the muffler and I had a muffler shop weld in on. Cost $50 to have it installed.
