Do you have a 335d? If so have you had it dyno'd? 400bhp seems a bit ambitious on a remap alone. 310bhp for the 330d sounds about right.

Yes I have a 335d but not had it dyno'd yet.
I take it with a pinch of salt tbh, the chart for 400bhp shows the original car ran 320bhp not 308bhp so even if it's reading a bit high it would still be about 390. DMS also quote 395 so it’s perfectly achievable imho. I can say according to the m lap timer and bum dyno it is MASSIVELY faster and more powerful than stock, when my map was overwritten it felt like a 320d! It's also faster than my old m140.... I'd say realistically a 335d can make between 370-390bhp from just a stage 1. A 330d can make 310-330 without any other modifications (stage 1). |

Does it really matter what the headline figure is tho? A lot claim around that on the 335d but it’s how it feels that matters! People get too hung up on figures and dyno’s!!

No I don't think it does either. Just annoys me that certain companies advertise head-turning figures that are unlikely to be achievable with a remap alone.

SGR performance in Manchester claim to work on these day in day out. They say 390bhp and price a tune at £350 inc dyno, also £300 for a xhp flash.
Has any anybody any reviews on these guys? |

It's also really progressive, as mine is RWD, I didn't want the torque to be any more overwhelming than it already was at low rpm. Stock was a initial dump of torque and sustained acceleration to 4500rpm, now it has good low down torque but acceleration builds towards 4500rpm, instead of being fairly flat, it's much more exciting. Sam at SGR is a great guy too, he has a tuned 140i that sounds like a bit of a beast, 470bhp on standard turbo I believe. Edit: I also believe he will do the xhp flash for £200 when done at the same time as a remap, though I didn't take him up on this. |

Thanks for the review, sounds great and defo a contender the more I think about it. Both for ease of use being based up north should anything go wrong, as well as the cost. But saying that DMS actually come out each time you want to remove the remap- this is my understanding of it but doesn’t sound cost worthy for them as a company? |

Paid £500 for the remap and £125 for the Alpina flash at Unicorn resulting in 373 bhp and 750nm
Was given a before and After dyno run to confirm figures. Happy with the result. Just as an aside don’t get too hung up in cost I’d advise looking at the reliability long term of the remap. Had a friend who had his car,van and sons car remapped for about £150 each - two went down with valve contact afterwards. Don’t know if it’s coincidence. But the couple of hundred quid isn’t that much over a few years.

Originally had a remap with a west midland tuner, wasn't happy with it and felt slow. I took it to BW Chiptune and we put it on the rolling road as soon as I got there. My car is 258bhp stock and the dyno run showed 266bhp, I paid £350 for 8bhp.
BW put their map on it and it felt lie a different car. Well worth the drive from Birmingham to London. A lot of companies don't care about the longevity of your car, only achieving the +50hp figure. The boss called me when I got back from London and explained everything that had happened with the previous map, I'm glad I had it taken off. I would never consider taking my car to anyone else, choose someone who cares about your motor. |

I've spent a good few hours trawling the BMW Forums and many people recommend the same places for their BMW's: Emaps, BW Chiptune, Evolve, DMS etc. I'm going to have my car tuned by Emaps on Tuesday, looking forward to it as many people have experience with their remaps and they've got an excellent track record for reliability.
