NBT EVO ID6 Retrofit Steps
Hi All,
I have an F30 which came from factory with an NBT EVO ID4 version. I have purchased an ID6 unit from a donor car which I plan to retrofit. I'm pretty sure I know the coding steps but was hoping someone could validate for me 1) Physically install the NBT EVO ID6 unit to the car 2) Turn on the car ignition and open Esys 3) Open External Applications -> Transmitter 4) Run the 'readVin' job to discover VINs against ECUs 5) Capture Donor VIN of Head Unit 6) Switch over to 'FSC Extended' tab 7) Connect to 0x63 and Identify 8) Use the WriteVIN job to update the vin of the donor HU with my own VIN 9) Switch over to 'Coding' Tab 10) Activate the FA 11) Read ECU 12) Right Click the HU NBT and Code I then just need to purchase FSC codes for my VIN on the new iDrive unit and inject? Many thanks, A |

A,
Double check the GPS antenna connection for both your headunits. Does the GPS antenna connect directly into your current ID4 HU? If yes, does the ID6 HU have the GPS antenna connector (blue connector)? Almost all of the newer ID6 HUs do not come with a GPS antenna connector... the GPS antenna connects into the ATM. Larry

Edit: nevermind, I just realized your ATM already has the VIN of your car so you're good there. Last edited by psyki; 12-12-2019 at 03:00 AM.. |

Bimmercode is not enough to perform the coding necessary to complete an NBT EVO retrofit, you'll need e-sys.

The steps outlined in the first post will work if your car already has an ATM module and you are only transplanting the headunit. If you are retrofitting an ATM as well you'll need to do the additional step I mentioned.

I did not need to flash NBT2 as it was the latest hardware version and already had a late 2018 i-step level. I only changed the VIN using FSC extended and then changed the VIN in the FA before VO coding. Of course I used an emulator and still had to apply a new FSC set assigned to the ATM VIN when all was said and done.

That's what I would totally recommend everyone do and why you did not need to flash the HU. Unfortunately, most used HU on the market are older than this as people are unwisely ignoring the details on the HU they are purchasing. They just purchase the cheapest NBT EVO HU they can find without regard of which it is, just to save $100 -$200 -$300. As we discussed, if you are spending all this money for a retrofit and clearly planning to keep car for a while, wouldn't you want the very latest equipment? One doesn't want to be running iDrive 6 lite on a unit with 2GB of memory if paying this much for a retrofit. Or at least I don't! Congrats on being an informed buyer and not just buying the cheapest available. |

Id6 Retrofit Touch Screen Issue
Hi, I have retrofitted my F30 LCI's ID4 NBT Evo HU with ID6 HU with touch screen from a donor.
Everything is working fine except some times (mosty observed when its parked outside under direct sun) my touch screen is touching by it self randomly navigating around ID or Carplay screens. I can hear the touch soundeffect. It goes to normal when I force restart the HU. Does anyone have this issue or have any idea about the reason? It looks like there is a hardware problem with the touch screen but I can not explain why it is going back to normal after I restart it. Or is it a software issue? Thanks |

I have an NBT EVO id4 (2016) and i think about upgrading the headunit to id6. My current configuration includes connected services, navigation. What do I need to watch for if looking for a second hand id6 unit? What is the issue with id6 not having GPS connector?
I have found this one - would it work (after all the coding etc) ? The seller states that it is Without DAB radio, without GPS connector, ECE version HW 4.1\ |

If the HU has exactly the same connectors at the back your conversion can start. For the blue GPS connector you have to look if there is a cable connected now. My ID4 HU had the blue GPS connector but nothing was connected because the GPS signal comes from the ATM. On my new ID6 HU there is no GPS connector and is not needed because of the ATM. So I just had to install the new HU, code it and everything worked (connected drive, etc.). |

Doesn't the HU need to be "virginized" to accept a new VIN? I am thinking about retrofiting CIC (no gps) to NBT EVO and could not find any instructions on what to do after purchasing the new HU

And also you need FSC or an emulator to activate all functions of the Evo. I recommend FEMtoEvo for this because the program automatically deletes the VIN, writes the new VIN and loads all FSC. https://fscmap.com/femtoevo/ |
