Really wanted the Speed Limit info displayed but didn't have the KAFAS camera.

I got myself the Sli emulator from a chap in Romania.

Removed the instrument cluster and located the 4 wires that needed splicing into.

skinny red/blue
skinny red one

Thick red/blue for 12v
Thick brown/white for GRD.

All put back together again.
A little coding with esys and all worked instantly.

As you can see The one on the cluster displays MPH, which I was worried that it won't.

The hardest bit was waiting for the emulator to turn up as DPD had misplaced it... 3 weeks from Romania.

Drove it about 20miles after fitting. So far 100% accurate.

Honestly, such an inexpensive add on but so much satisfaction! 😊

I went for one of the chinese ones, yes i know it shows kmh instead of mph, which put me off for ages, but to be fair you hardly notice the kmh, and its been spot on ever since fitting, it only took a week to arrive and better still it was only 30 quid. They are a very useful tool, especially when you are in an area that you don't know and you are not sure of what the speed limit is. I opted for the cheaper option as you don't really use it that often and yes i have to admit, i'm a tight arse. Again though it does the job perfectly.

I considered the Chinese one's and as i have HUD, the KPh wouldn't have shown in the HUD. And I wouldn't have used it on the cluster.

But the price difference was only about £50. So I just went for the proper one. Plus my OCD would have gone in to overdrive after a while. Lol.

Well done, you must have gotten the Romanian one for a really good price, when i was looking it was £200, and i think you could get a german one as well, but that was closer to £250, so for me it was a no brainer at a few pence over £30. I would have liked it to say mph, but i could live without, i just don't understand why they just couldn't set it to say neither mph or kph, as all the new cars only have the numbers on display, much simpler.

Has anyone tested the Romanian emu with a 6WB digital cluster? I want to know if it shows the "overspeed" trailing mark that is characteristic of the 6WB with KAFAS SLI.

The Chinese emu I have is KMH only and the trails don't show. Well, they do if I switch to KMH in the car settings.... but that's no good.

I would like this onboard and correctly in MPH - but the price tag (€150) for me I think is high. Not saying it should be £30 but perhaps somewhere in between... To put things in perspective, the wireless Carplay MMI mod for example was around £180...
The ...customeretro... website is currently showing some €50 Range Rover discount code... cross fingers they eventually show some BMW offers too...
