F30 Brake & Turn signals are swapped
Hey, so a friend happened to be driving behind me today, and let me know that my brake light was out. After some investigation, it seems that my brake light is NOT out, but that the turn signal's light turns on when I press the brakes.
Video of turn signal in action.. I plugged the left taillight into the right side, and it started working as expected (i.e. turn signal lights up when blinker is on, brake when brake is pressed). This leads me to think that there was a wiring mishap at some point, and the brake & turn signal got swapped. My question is: Can I just swap the pins on the connector for the tail light? Has anyone else run into this before? I do not know how long this has been happening.. I bought the car used about a year ago, so it's possible its been happening since then. I know its been in an accident, but I'm not sure what happened. It's passed inspection, but its possible that this just got missed. |

Could just be bad wiring from accident fix? Are they OEM lights or aftermarket? Can you tell?
If the swap fixed it then I think you figured out the issue. |

I bet the previous owner experienced the well known tail light connector failure, replaced the connector, wiring it incorrectly when he did.
