Wheel stud conversion and lug nuts

Please delete this if there is already a thread that covers this topic, but I searched and was not able to find one.

For those who have installed a wheel stud conversion kit (so the wheels can be installed with lug nuts instead of lug bolts):
1. which stud conversion kit did you purchase,
2. which lug nuts did you purchase,
3. and what are your impressions with them so far?

Thank you in advance

Examples of the stud conversion:

Get the one Brian on the second video with red BMW use.

You will have more options for security lock....I believe its 14x1.25 to 14x1.5 .....

For the length, it's up to you stock if you don't use spacers.

Thank you. We will need 14x1.25 lug nuts, correct?

Motorsport Hardware, Apex racing, Macht Schnell, Turner, MRG, there's a few others.

except for MRG and Turner MSI, all the stud kits are made from 10.9 cold steel and basically the same. they will all get a slight bit of surface rust after some time. Turner uses a dry lube as corrosion inhibitor on MSI. you could buy this at an autoparts store and DIY, though. most are 14x1.25 thread pitch however some offer 14x1.25 to 14x1.5 conversion with 1.5 pitch lug nuts(obviously), so make sure of this part.

except for MSI(bullet nose), most have a hex tip for install however i recommend double nut method since the hex tip tends to get jacked. i used blue instead of red thread fastener as the stud is being held in with torque as well.

personally, i have Motorsport Hardware. its the most reasonably priced with some different options for lug nuts for an additional cost.

i believe Turner MSI is using a higher than 10.9 grade steel but it costs so much you might as well go full baller and get MRG, if you're going that route.

Like alohasurftoad said.... you need a conversion that is M14x1.25 hub end and M14x1.5 lug nut end.... the reason for this is that there are more security lock nut available for the M14x1.5 end.

The 2nd video have a link under description.

Thank you both, this is very helpful information! I started the thread because the options for 14x1.25 lug nuts are very limited. I see now that we should use a stud conversion kit that is M14x1.25 to M14x1.5 and pair them with M14x1.5 lug nuts.

that's correct, more lug choices in 14x1.5. i just went with the plain black open end lug nuts so 14x1.25-14x1.25 was fine for me. MSH has 14x1.25 fancier open end nuts but they stick out too far for my taste. depends if you like that look or not.

also the stud length is dependent if you're planning spacers or not. if you're planning closed end lug nuts you'll have to be cognizant of depth and and how much stud end threads you'll have to "grab".
