Subwoofer additions/audio work
Finally decided to put some subs in the trunk. I tapped in with a Line out converter and ran (2) JL Audio 10W6V2 with an 800W fosgate amp. I set the speakers up facing the rear seats with both subs firing into the car through the ski hole at a 45 degree angle. I need to plexiglass the ski hole and install a couple port holes to dress it up. The factory mid/highs sound fine but could be louder. I have my bass is turned up 2 notches and the treble is maxed on the factory head unit. I was toying with the idea of possibly buying a nice 4 channel amp and powering up those factory speakers. The logic 7 already has aluminum tweeter components. Any thoughts on that? The subs sound awesome btw, JL W6's are nice speakers. I have attached some halfway decent pictures I took with my iphone at night, the quality isnt the best. The BMW logo on the trunk paneling was carved out of wood then carpet laid over.

About the mid's and highs. They sound great and the bass doesnt drown them out at all, I just think they could be louder. |

Not at all, the subs are angled to fire into the ski hole. If I put the armrest up you notice a difference. I plan on finishing it off really nice and removing the armrest though.

that box is clean.. and with the plexiglass showing the goods.. maybe a set of LEDs to light them up would set it off perfect..
and also did you make this box? would you be willing to make another? a friend of mine also installed a JL sub (single though) and it really brings the standard logic 7 to life

Yeah it really did bring the logic 7 to life. I was going to get the entire system reworked until I installed the subs, then I decided it sounded good enough. Audio itch in Tampa built the box and did the panel. I am sure they would build more boxes if people were interested.

Yeah, people can say they both have the same features and everything or that the G has more features but when you drive the BMW its all the difference. The BMW has 0 rattles, the braking feels alot better, the whole driving experience really

If any of you are interested in purchasing the setup I have and the paneling I would be willing to have the audio shop replicate it. I would require $50 + shipping as a fee for handling the entire transaction (arranging the build, picking up the box, shipping it, etc.) The box was $190 and the paneling was $100. so $340 + shipping. If enough people want them/the shop gives me a better deal for buying multiple boxes then I might be able to offer an even better price. |

Nice install. How are you feeding signal to your amp? Which wires did you tap into for the line output converter? I also have Logic7 and noticed there are 2 pair of the Blue/Green, Blue/Brown (right channel) and Yellow/Red, Yellow/Brown (left channel). Does it make a difference which set you tap into? I know there are some DIYs on the forum, but I've only seen ones for non-L7 so their wiring was a little different.

I Have a similar setup except I have 2 Fosgate 12" in a ported box and it site nice in the trunk, its a little bigger than the one you have listed. I have two fosgate amps driving booth woofers and a Fosgate sound processor that i tap into the output from the factory amp to get signal. All around it sounds great and I was thinking of upgrading the factory speakers but they sound great just added bass and the cool thing about my sound processor is that you can control and tune it from a smartphone or PC.

I don't think this will fit the 335i either. The compartment under the floor is different and much smaller. I couldn't even fit my amp under there.

Are you using remote wire or signal sensing for amp power on (best to use remote signal)? or it could possibly be a grounding issue. BTW which wires did you end up tapping for the line output converter signal?

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59756 and this the instruction i followed. "1,2 are one channel and 3,4 are the other channel. you should get a pac trunk-loc if you are gonna do this setup. if you use a pac trunk-loc: wire 1- (red/blue) will go with the gray wire from pac. wire 2- (brown/white) will go with the gray/black wire from pac. those are the right sub wires. wire 3- (red/white) will go with the white wire from pac. wire 4- (brown/yellow) will go with the white/black from pac. those are the left sub wires. green wire from pac should go on wire 4 (brown/yellow). ground wire form pac goes to ground on car or ground it to the amp(i grounded to the amp ground). red wire from pac goes to +12 on amp. blue wire from pac goes to remote on amp. good luck." at first my jl amp throw LOW V when i have ground on chassis of car. then i put the ground on battery negative and it turn off. then the orange light low something came on then i add a CAP and Ground wire to 4G and it dissapear. btw i have all 4 gauge wire and 12 gauge for speaker wires. at first i thought it was RCA but i tried new RCA and it still make sounds. i tap the sub wire. as that link told me to do. help me out. it make some kind of detortion/hiss sounds its annoying. i blew my friend SONY sub with my amp so i turn everything off right now haha i got my 12w7 in and i dont wanna blow that thing out HAHA. pm me if u know whats the problem here. i have my battery to my cap. cap + to my amp. ground from amp to cap negative and negative from cap to negative on battery. my amp wasnt workin right with the ground to chassis. i have pac lock tapped to those sub wire above. speaker wires from amp to sub box. and remote from pac loc to amp n iuno i followed every instruction but i did ground amp to cap n cap to battery thats all but it should still work out. but it make those ekkk ekk hissin sounds or cracking on those other subs right before it blew out haha iuno what else haha im very frustrated right now.
