Location of Interior Comfort/Convenient Access Antenna?
I'm having an issue where my car can't seem to detect my key when starting the car. The issue happens in both of my key fobs. I took it to 2 BMW dealerships, and one could not identify the issue, while the other said interior antenna failures are rare and it is most likely the key fob. The fact that it happens with both of my fobs makes me almost certain its the antenna. The issue only happens when the key is in my pocket in the drivers seat and I press the start stop button. However, if the key is placed anywhere else in the car (such as the passenger's side or in the rear), the car starts without any problem. I have found a diagram of the antenna online and believe it is the interior antenna on the front left side. I could not find anything online on where exactly it is. I have no issue unlock/locking the car with the key fob using the buttons. While I don't have any issue unlocking the car using the comfort access door handle, there is an issue sometimes when locking it by holding my finger up against the ridges on the the driver's side door handle after accessing the car. However, I still think the issue is with the interior antenna as there has never been an issue with unlocking the car when I grab the door handle.

Finally figured out what the problem was after reading this thread: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1396657
Turns out some eBay projector lights somehow interfere with the key detection system. Can't really fully explain why, but I as soon as I took out the projectors all my issues disappeared. |

If that's true they're not meeting FCC regulations, which really shouldn't apply to LED lamps, as there's no reason for a lamp to emit RFI. But that's one of the things that Asian sources tend to be lax on.
