Changing the date format without iDrive
I've got a 330i with no iDrive. I want to change the date format to dd.mm.yyyy but I can't find any way of doing this with the head unit or the instrument cluster config menu. Anyone know if there's some special service mode or anything you can get into to change it? I was going to ask at the service centre today but when I went to pickup my car, my service rep was tied up with someone else. I tried looking around the "hidden menus" but it seems to be all read only.
I figure it's possible, probably somewhere in the depths of the menus where they do stuff like reset your inspection sticker date, which I also had fixed today.

This is straight out of the '08 manual:
Setting Date To set the dd/mm or mm/dd date format, refer to Formats and units of measure on page 64. 1. Push button 1 in the turn signal lever up or down repeatedly until the appropriate symbol appears in the display, accompanied by the date and the word "SET". 2. Press button 2. 3. Use button 1 to set the day of the month. 4. Press button 2 to confirm the entry. 5. Set the month and the year in the same way. 6. Press button 2. The system stores the new date. Glad I don't have to follow those directions. Good luck.

That's for setting the date, not the format.
I finally found it though (I *just* got my owner's manual, finally). Formats are configured in the key settings menu. Kinda strange but I understand why since settings are tied to key fobs. It's the only format setting not available for configuration in the head unit, unless I'm just blind and there's some way to do it there. Now i'm finally all set with km, L/100km, Celsius, 24h time, and dd.mm.yyyy. I just always have to remember to switch the odometer back to miles when I go in for service otherwise they'd probably not notice the units and perform 30k mile maintenance even though it only has 19k miles.
