CG Precision VSC-2 exhaust valve controller?

They have a wiring fix to keep the exhaust valves open all of the time. AWE exhausts do as well. Not sure if they would work with the new G82. Simple plug and play. Anyone hear of them or use either on past M4s? I don't know that BMW would change the electronic valves on the new generation, seems dumb. Have a call into a supplier to see if it would work. If so, for $200, might make sense.

Would be nice if it was that easy. You have to get the valves fully open somehow, or unplugging just leaves them in the state they're in. I tried it. Didn't work. Will see what my tech thinks when I take it in at 1000 miles.

I have this controller on my F82 - I HIGHLY recommend it as the valves are never fully open all the time regardless of mode. Many people who complain about the lack of sound on F8X and I imagine G8X could probably fix that by forcing the valves open with a controller. There is, however, a good reason the valves aren't open all the time - if you are cruising, there can be many unwanted frequencies in low rpm / high gear driving. So the optimal solution is a controller set to OEM/Open - that way you can open them when you want some thunder and put them back to stock when you want to chill/cruise.

You can do the old unplug the valves trick, but then you're stuck with a lot of unwanted noise when you want to "switch off". I would unplug the valves if you were curious to see whether valves open would fix your need for sound in order to decide next steps.

Thanks for the reply. To unplug the valve control the flaps have to be open. Not sure how to do that to keep them open until I unplug. Unlike in the Corvette, they don't default to full open when you disconnect the lead. I tried that. This would be perfect solution--and as you say, can close on a long trip if drone is an issue. I just don't know if the pin out for the G82 is the same as yours. I would think there would be no reason to change such a simple part, but who knows? If they can be returned, may give them a try. Will call for more info--hopefully.

On F8X, to get the valves to stay open guys would drive around in sport plus for a bit or when warm rev the engine in sport plus to have the valves open then shut off the car to keep them in the open position (they close again upon next start up). Then you would just unplug the valves.

I also think there's a possibility that a simple electronic part like the valve actuators wouldn't have changed, but since it's so early in the lifecycle I'm not sure anyone has tried yet. I couldn't find a VSC2 for X3M though, so I don't know if that means its incompatible with the current actuators or there just isn't a market for it yet.

I haven't looked into it but if the valve is operated by a normal 12v motor, why not just find the right pins and actuate it manually with a 12v batterie like you can do to retract rear parking brake calipers ?
