Sleep mode?

Is there anyway to tell if my car goes into sleep mode? I have installed the BMW navi kit and its supposed to turn off the navi when the car sleeps.

Well, the unit never turns off, so I figure my car isn't going into sleep mode.

Is there anything simple I can do to try and diagnose this problem before going to the dealer?

Any info would be appreciated.

Various modules go to sleep in 15-20 minutes. However, as soon as you unlock the car or open a door, they all wake back up again. (In addition, other (unknown) things may happen if you have comfort access and approach the car with the key in your pocket.)

Best bet is to wait 30 minutes, come back to the car without the key in your pocket and check in the navi thru the window without opening the door. If its still on, then take it back to the dealer.

Yes...but the modules "wake up" upon unlocking the car/opening the door.
