Spring options for M Adaptive Suspension

Hi guys. A few months back, I ordered a set of 05-22 Eibach springs (EU variant) to avoid the reverse rake issue with the 06-22 (NA variant). Unfortunately, the vendor (Tunershop, terrible customer service btw) sent the wrong springs and we only found this out after my car was in the shop with both the front and rear driver-side suspension taken apart. As a result, I had to settle for whatever I could find locally that day, which was the 06-22 Eibach springs. smak168 warned me that I wouldn't be satisfied, and he was right. I really don't like how high the front sits compared to the rear.

My question is, what are my options for springs without having to sacrifice the M-Adaptive Suspension? I've gone with F82 bump stops, and ideally would like to just swap the springs out for another set.

440i Gran Coupe (xDrive) for reference.

Thanks in advance!

i believe the rear springs of the 5-22 & 6-22 are the same so just order the 5-22 front springs and swap them out when you receive them. going lower than eibach will result in your adaptive dampers wearing out quicker.

the 6-22 is still immensely better than a stock x-drive and is definitely liveable(imo) until your 5-22 front springs arrive.

I ordered the 05-22 from tunershop as well and verified the correct front spring numbers before install. I also installed new front oem adaptive struts. car is lower in front, but not as low as i had expected it to be. i chalk it up to the new struts in the front. still have some ugly fender gap between the tire and fender. has me looking at the H&R sport springs for xdrive...but not sure i want to trash my ride quality just yet. Just fyi, you may still be disappointed with the 05-22.

The dampers wearing out quicker is definitely something I'd like to avoid. I know that Dinan and ACS have springs for the adaptive suspension, but I haven't been able to find out if they work on xDrives, or if the drop is any better than the Eibachs.

Is it possible to order just the 05-22 fronts, or would I need to order the full set?

Thanks for the help btw, I've done some research on the forum and your posts have always helped me out.

Unfortunately Tunershop sent me a set of Citroen springs instead of the 05-22s. I reached out three times and they only responded 1 month later when I finally threatened them with a credit card chargeback. It sucks that they're essentially the only vendor that has these springs.

The H&R springs have the perfect drop imo, and I had a set on my previous car (428i coupe), but the ride was absolutely horrible. Can I bother you for a picture of your setup? If it's not a drastic difference, it might not be worth the additional ~$600 to buy/install the 05-22s.

i believe Dinan has for x-drive. same lowering all around, so slight reverse rake. Eibach manufactures ACS to their specs. not sure of their lowering and specs.

i believe you can order singles from Eibach directly but i'm not sure what the shipping might cost and how long it would take.

i started a checkout from eibachshop to see what the cost might be. $170USD shipped to me via the standard ship. i'm not sure how long standard ship would take, though.

here are the links for reference...

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=169

https://eibachshop.com/index.php?p46...4-coupe-4-gran

if going this route, i suggest you do more research on the matter as this was just a quick search for me.

ADDED...EibachNA has E10-20-031-2-22 lowering 1.0 and 0.6, same as EU5-22. however i'm not sure of the spring rates and whether it works on your car or not.

You guys are seriously amazing, thank you so much. I was quoted $220 shipped for the front two springs directly from Eibach, and $330 for the set. I think I'll go with the full set, and sell the new rears with my current fronts. This is what I was leaning towards initially, and I was really hoping for a better option but unfortunately there aren't any.

Thanks again for the help guys.

The ACS springs for x-drive with adaptive dampers have the same lowering spec (20-25 mm) front and rears. In other words, the car sits similar to standard, just lower - thus the front fender gap is a bit bigger, but no reverse rake.

This is how looks mine:

Dont the 4 series (gc included) sit lower from the factory even with xdrive, than a comparable f30 3 series? dont know if that is the case for f31s or not.

your 5-22 Eibach does not appear as low(incl. rear) as the others in this thread of Eibach's on x-drives...https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1501682

have your springs settled more since?

They have not. Its been about a month now since they were installed (along with new bilstein b4 front edc struts). They did settle ever so slightly after the install a few days later and the more i drove, but in the picture is where it has been since.

I speculate the bistein b4 is what is causing the height. I saw a post where a members b6 caused increased height over oem.

Your car height looks only a pinch lower than factory m sport height in the pic

Im going to wait a little while longer to see if it settles more (not likely) but im really tempted to order replacement rear b4s (currently still on original rear struts from bmw) and another set of lowering springs (h&r sports perhaps). That or try to possibly go up in tire size to fill some of the gap (currently 26.0 diamter f/r, thinking about 26.3 f/r or whatever)

What bumpstops? You might want get shorter ones, like m80, if you haven't already. Or do the b4 have internal bumpstops like the b8?

If you get lower springs imo there will more preload on the damper and the b4 will be acting partially like spring as well.

235/45/18 & 265/40/18 will definitely reduce gap but raise your total height 0.15" and make your wheel diameter look slightly smaller since its a bit beefier.

Whatever your resolution should be interesting.

I have the dinan bump stop/ride quality kit. B4s dont have internal bump stops like the b6s and b8s do from my understanding. Not sure what path i will take to reduce the gap, but i am def not satisfied with it currently. heh

Dinan ride Quality Kit with other springs?

Does anyone know or have experience using the Dinan Ride Quality kit (Bumpstops) with other springs such as Eibach or AFE springs?

dinan bumpstops are just OEM E39 bumpstops that they sell at a big markup. F8x bumpstops are recommended with eibach spring rates. here is a thread on bump stops...
