Stock Clutch Life Expectancy
Hi all, new member here. Placed an order on a 2022 manual G80 M3. Will be a first time BMW owner. I have been driving a manual car most of my life. My last manual was an Audi S4 which was known to have a short life expectancy on its clutch. Luckily I never had to replace mine, but seen many folks had them replaced around 35-40k miles (bad drivers maybe?)
Dealer told me the clutches are bullet proof on the M cars. Any word from the dealer I take it with a grain of salt. Curious to know how are BMWs with their stock clutch on the previous M3s or any other models. How many miles have you put on your stock clutches? If you had to replace them, at what mileage did you replace them at? |

I had a ‘04 ZHP and replaced the clutch/flywheel at 140k miles.
Do you launch the car constantly? Drive like a grandma? Do you skip on transmission maintenance? Since this transmission is pretty much the same as the F80, you should see what those drivers are getting. And BMW released some videos explaining components of the new G8x, here’s the manual transmission. |

Never launched a manual car before. I would sometimes do some spirited driving, mainly if the roads are clear. I always perform all maintenance on time since I believe that's the key to increasing the longevity of the vehicle. Not sure if anyone else does this, but when I am driving with passengers I would watch their heads while shifting gears to see if their heads would bobble. That would be my indicator if I am shifting smoothly. Interested to see what the F80 drivers have to say. |
