$3,500 for AA Downpipe…SMH.

Just saw Active Autowerkes released pipes for the G80s/82….$3,500 for downpipes. I mean if they were 24k plated would it still be that much lol

What are your thoughts?

I haven't seen anything from Active about the release. Nothing on their site. Just EuroKlasse that has them listed. Mid-pipe for $1700.00 and the rear muffler section for $2600.00. Those prices aren't bad. I wont be putting downpipes on my car. Just a mid and maybe rear section.

the AA single downpipe is now $1399
considering they will be using 2 and it's a new design with 2 pipes and more curves, the price sound very reasonable.

You guys do realize you are comparing a VRSF catless downpipe to an Active Autowerke catted downpipe that uses 2 GESI cats.

Each GESI cat costs more than the downpipe itself, that's because they offer a no CEL guarantee.

Each cat retails at ~1500-1700 depending on where you get it from

Order them now and you will have them right before the H model M's come out!!! Still waiting for my EQ Midpipe from February. I think they are going to use this Covid excuse for life. Comical. They should refund every ones money until they ship. CROOKS. You have been warned. It still cracks me up they can be pumping out G 80/82 exhaust and new downpipes but still can't get materials for pre-paid EQ midpipes. Rant over

I understand you are frustrated with the long wait but 1- your post has nothing to do with the price of the downpipe ; 2- no point in posting the same thing on every Active Autowerke thread

I don't know who you placed your order with but if you do not wish to wait, just ask for a refund and get a different product

It's in the works homie. I posted to give people a heads up of what myself and others have gone through with a particular Part/Vendor. Now when people order something and it's 4-5 months after delivery date, they may be less shocked. There a big company, prob don't need you defending them at every turn? You would think they would chime in 1-2 times a month to let peeps know something. Then again, they have the money so why bother.

That link for $1600 is a pack of 6, correct?

I'm assuming that we only need 2 total.

No dog in this fight, but if the VRSF ones or whatever are $400 apiece, couldn't you just buy 2 of those cats above for $545 and then be out the door for $1,345 total?

$1,635.16/6 = $272.52 x 2 = $545.05

$400 x 2 = $800.00

$800 + $545.05 = $1,345.05

its not that simple, you will need to 1- wield them to the pipes ; 2- redesign the entire pipe as each pipe will need to be cut in three pieces(exact length of the cat need to be removed) then welded together in the correct spot to avoid any clearance issue.

But to make it easier, if you are asking whether a DYI will cost less than a brand product, the answer is always yes. You can make your own intake, downpipe, midpipe, exhaust, even tune for cheaper than what you get it for.
the problem is it will require R&D, skill, and time that most people do not have. Not to mention the headache from making adjustments from imperfect designs

I don't know much about this stuff, which is why I was asking. I figured you could just weld the cat to the downpipe, didn't realize it had to be cut before you could

Who said that every post in response to this thread has to be price 'centric'?

I'm pretty sure that this is an open discourse for conversation, and IF SickGTR's story is true (I have no idea one way or another) then I think it's VERY relevant to the discussion.

Whether or not $3500 is 'fair' is one question...

...Customer service, wait times, if you ever receive the product (AA) is another.

I have no dog in this fight myself. I just think your response, although logical, is that of someone who I'd now think really hard about ever purchasing a product from.

To each their own.

Well 1- he quoted my response about price and posted a response that has nothing to do with it. That's why i responded, had he not quoted me i would not have responded to him again

hes posting the same thing on every thread that mentions active and i already had the same discussion with him on the other thread. I have no interest responding to him and having the same conversation on every thread but again HE quoted me

I'd say 1 cat by itself is probably $500 a piece.

Redstar has a similar product for $2095. The pictures does look pretty good. Question is, will a 400Cell have enough volume increase ? Personally for sport cats I will choose HJS 200Cell.
