VSC2 On G82

Installation was fairly easy, got it from Extreme Power house. My version is on for open valve and off for stock setting.

The module mount is pretty hard without removing the exhaust pipe. the harnesses are easy to connect and there's enough gap under the factory heatshield to run the wire.

Need to be careful with the pins though, its a 4pin adapter with only 3 pins, definitely take a look with the stock one first and then decided which direction the adapter should go.

Video for mounting and how it works. I was using a ramp so it's pretty tight down there, sorry for the video quality.

Also I'm not quite sure whether it's safe to mount the module using the screw for the heat shield, the black one with a huge washer on it. Especiall its blocked by the flap module so loosening it and tightening it is a huge pain in the ass,

Thanks for this. I have mine ready to go. Just need my car. Should be within the week. So were you able to install the module without removing the pipes? I'm really not that handy around cars so hoping it's easy.

Thanks for posting this, I have one on order (but don't have a car yet).

Did you end up having to drop the exhaust or were you able to squeeze the module in without doing that? I don't have any ramps (or a lift, wouldn't that be nice), so I'm most likely going to take it to a local shop and have them hook it up.

Unless someone in Jersey had a lift I can use. Lol.

I finished the installation without removing the exhaust, there's another possible mounting point but the module would become the lowest point of the car so I picked this one. with a socket attachment that can allow u to turn the socket sideways would make the job a lot easier. wiring is the easiest part though. Tons of space under the heatshield.

any autozone, 60bucks rhino ramp. went for the 16k one since only 10 bucks more expensive than 12k and probably safer.

Thank you. My driveway slopes down from garage so I think I can get under the car if I park it at the edge.

Don't do it on any sloped surface, better be safe than sorry. The car is pretty low and I tried without a ramp, I cant fit under there so if it falls I'm definitely getting hurt or worse.

Agreed. Sorry, I wasn't clear. If I park it in my garage, which is flat, but towards the entrance my driveway drops off quickly so I should have some room.

Below 4k RPM yes, I have secondary cat and both res delete so it drones around 2500rpm, but the burbles are louder for sure.

I was just about to post a similar thread after completing my install last night. I ended up using one of the bolts on the passenger side exhaust valve to mount the bracket and after a spirited drive today can report no issues.

For me this is a huge sound improvement when combined with coding ASD off. It's much louder below 4k, deep, burbles on downshifts, occasional crack or fart between up shifts. This is what I would have expected from the factory so it's nice to see it possible without major modifications. I also programmed the remote to the Homelink which is a nice touch. Best money I've spent on a mod in a long time.

This picture is for mounting reference. I've since secured the wiring with some zip ties.

I should have clarified that this is the original VS2 from the F80. It works plug and play on the G80 with a little bit of creative mounting. CG should really get around to updating their site because this is a killer mod for the money.

If you have the valves closed do they open naturally over a certain RPM or is it strictly open/closed?

This seems like good option to pair with an X-pipe to keep it somewhat quiet when needed?

Edit: I see you can order it with open/closed/automatic with automatic being the factory operated

Which did you guys go with? Closed or automatic?

When I had this on the F80 I did ON = open and OFF = oem function and I will do it again for the G80.

Thanks. Went ahead and ordered it in that spec

FYI the CG website wanted $25 for 4 day shipping even though it's on 3 week back order. Other sites have it with free shipping

Ur mounting point looks a whole lot better man, However I really don't want to crawl under there and redo everything...

When you fit this controller, does it make the exhaust button in the car obsolete? I assume that button just partially opens the valves in sport/sport + where as this is fully open all the time?

Maybe I'm dense (my wife would probably agree, lol), but can someone explain to me:

Default Settings, choices are:
Open (Standard VSC-2 Setting)
Automatic (Factory Controlled)
Closed

Activated Settings (Required), choices are:
Closed (Standard VSC-2 Setting)
Automatic (Factory Controlled)
Open

I "THINK" I want Automatic on both IF I want to allow the factory switch to both open and close the valves. I guess by default, when you start the car, they are closed until you push the button to open them. Is this correct?

Also, what is everyone else doing? I like the idea of the valves being open by default, on start up, and them remaining open until I close them.

Thanks All.

I'm not sure about the factory switch operating it, that's why I asked about that button becoming obsolete after install l? Good question

You can use the bmw home link though to
Operate

I set it as Default - 'open' and Activated 'automatic'

They sent me the manual over email and it says it's operated by home link or key fob, not the exhaust button in the car
