What happened with the DME tuning?

It's been a few weeks now since claims of being able to flash tune the DME's were made, shouldn't we see some dyno numbers and reports from customers by now? Or did it flop?

My thoughts exactly, so evidently those claims were pure BS which does not surprise me.

curious when mainstream companies like Boodmod3 crack the DME and have flash tunes available

I would consider Dinan. That's because of the warranty. Others would have to come to the plate with something that matches it.

They stated right in their post, that it would undergo extensive testing before being released to customers. Having a little knowledge in this area, I know tuners that dont release a tune, until they have 100,000 miles (combined) on their test cars. So, if they have 10 people willing to take the chance, those people are putting 10K miles on the tune, before they release it.

Im not saying thats the case, here, but understand the lengths that some tuning companies go through, especially if theyre sending you a canned tune. They would have lawsuits, left and right, if they sent out 500 tunes and had 10 blown motors.

Are they just selling for the M3/M4 or just the S58? I know theyre tuning the XM SUVs as well? And theyre actually selling unlocked DMEs?

RK tunes has it on the site and a instagram ad about it for the G8X... but the lead time is 2+ weeks minimum. I'm sure they'll roll in soon enough.

IIRC, for the F80/82 the warranty did not apply to the most aggressive tune from Dinan. The lower tunes provided mediocre hp gains for the cost.

RK Tunes offers F8x tunes, not G8X ecu tunes. If you find otherwise please provide the link. Thanks

They pulled it from their site. It was on there. I think they might of been out sourcing it. It required you to remove your Ecu and send it to them. 2 week turn around. My guess is they were sending it out to who ever said they cracked it to tune it and then send it back to you.

I've heard a few issues about ecu's reverting back to factory.

I won't touch it...better to wait for OBD tune.

yeah I wont be tuning mine. Im quite happy with it stock. I will probably just add and exhaust and intake for sound purposes only. I dont race the car and most of the time im just enjoying on back road cruises with friends. stock power levels are perfect for that.

They don't open it - I had mines sent and back and its been untampered.

Their solution is private but they somehow found a way to manipulate the data inside using the connectors.

I don't have a photo of the DME as I put mine back in the car already - but you check Femto's IG they have loads of photos on their story on a daily basis
