Audio Setup Headboard Question

OK, so I am looking at revamping my complete stereo system. If i get a new headunit will I still be able to use the steering wheels controls. Or is it one of those things where it will just take some extra wiring. ?

You won't if you do nothing more than change the HU. However, many brands sell interfaces to solve this problem (e.g. Alpine).
