Plastic bag melted onto catalytic, should I be concerned?

Can this do any damage? Should I just let it melt off or bring it somewhere to have it removed? Jeez the stink is awful.

Pull/scrape what you can off... then let the rest melt. It'll stop smelling after a week

Pulling the old "plastic bag melted on the cats so I guess need to remove them now" trick? Nice.
