Sport Steering Wheel... Turn on Radio

Is it possible to turn the radio off and on via the steering wheel?

The 2009's don't have the assignable button on the steering wheel anymore - instead we get an "audio source" button.

I'd rather have the assignable button - I consider this a downgrade on the LCI's....

Interesting...I have a 2007 and didn't know I could turn the Audio system on and off with a "assignable button" on the steering wheel.

Yep. An easy task if you have iDrive. Although you never really turn off the audio system, it's just muting it.

I don't have idrive and for the life of me cannot figure out how to set the steering wheel up to do radio on/off. I looked through the manual and couldn't find anything.

I'd really appreciate if someone could share how or if it's even possible...

My '06 had idrive and I loved that assignable mute button feature. When I picked up my '08 I asked the salesman how to do it without idrive and he said that feature isn't present without idrive - all you can do with the wheel is scroll through audio sources, and turn air recirculation on and off - what a joke.

The air recirculation button on the steering wheel is a bit bizarre. How often would anyone ever be changing that setting?

I change it if someone is smoking in front of me or in stop and go I don't want to be sucking the car's fumes in front of me.
