G30 to G42 wheel compatibility possibility?
I'd like to pick the brains of the experts here regarding the possibility of mounting my BMW OEM winter tire package from my 2019 M550iX (G30) to my soon-to-be-shipped 2022 M240iX (G42).
The winter tire set I got for the G30 is the 86331/86334 package. These are a staggered set with the front (8.0 x 19) 245/40 and the rear (9.0 x 19) 275/35. The bolt pattern is 5 x 112. I have no offset info. I ordered my G42 with the Style 893M wheel package. The come with front (8.5 x 19) 245/35 and rear (9.5 x 19) 255/35. I believe the bolt pattern for the G42 has also switched to 5 x 112. Again, I have no offset info. So, the specs look pretty close. What do the experts think? Thanks in advance for any help that can be offered. Best, Danny

As far as I know, you wouldn't have any problem with front ones with the 245...
but for the rears... 275 is too much see the specs of possible wheels accepted: See here https://g42.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1839552 |

Thanks very much for your reply and this link - both very helpful!
One solution, short of getting a new winter wheel package, might be to get just two replacement rear tires, if available in a 255 width. Thanks again! Best, Danny

Your 40 profile fronts from the G30 is outside any of the available wheel options. This could be an issue or not. The option that has 245s come in 35 profile.
19" Double spoke bicolor style 893M, w/high performance non run flat tires. Front: 19x8.5, 245/35 R19 Rear: 19x9.5, 255/35 R19 |

Yes, I see that. As it turns out, the winter tire package for the G30 did not come with staggered wheels/tires: all four corners are 245/40 R19.
The overall height of the G42 893M would be: Front - (245mm x 35% x 2 x 0.0393701) + 19 = ~25.75" Rear - (255mm x 35% x 2 x 0.0393701) + 19 = ~26.00" And my current snows from the G30 (all four) = (245mm x 40% x 2 x .0393701) + 19 = ~26.72" So, the winters from the G30 are about 0.72-1.00 taller than the 893M package. I think that's too big a difference. Thanks, Danny

Any idea what tires come with the high performance wheels package?
I'm in the same boat. I love the wider tires in summer for looks and performance, but need a winter option here in the Northeast. I'm either buying a set of high performance all seasons and running them year round or getting a set of winter wheels (my preference) and switching them seasonally.

Front: 19x8.5, 245/35 R19 Rear: 19x9.5, 255/35 R19 If I can confirm that the offsets match, my current plan is to recycle the 19" mags from my G30 winter wheel package and get four 245/35R19 winter tires. I have the Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 on those wheels now. I think the choice would be between those and the Michelin Alpin PA4 winters. Any recommendations? Thanks, Danny
