active exhaust
on at least a couple m240i video reviews I have watched recently, the reviewers have mentioned the car having an "active exhaust." I don't recall reading about this in the press release or in anything else I've read about that car. does anyone know exactly what this means? am thinking it relates to the exhaust being louder in different driving modes, such as sport, sport +, etc. is this correct or is there more to it?

It just means that the valves of the exhaust will open up once you switch from comfort to sport or sport + so it'll be louder.

thanks all for the replies. I figured that's basically how it operated. does this car also have active sound like the f22 or is it all real exhaust sound we are hearing in the cabin when switching modes? active sound was pretty noticeable on my 2015 m235i, but not so much on my 2019 m240i I have now. in fact I added an m performance exhaust and Dinan midpipe just so I could actually hear the exhaust! lol

It may be pumped in, but I'll say, mines pretty damn quiet inside. I had to roll down the windows yesterday just to hear the exhaust. But can hear those shifts inside 😂

that's a bummer you feel like it is that quiet inside, but glad you could hear it pretty well with the windows down. I see a Dinan midpipe in my future for this car too lol, if/ when they develop one for it as it is my favorite mod on my f22 m240i.
