Looking for new wheels for F32
Hello F30 community,
Been a long time lurker and I'm finally in need of some advice. I'm looking to get some new wheels for my F32. I currently have 400M 18" with xdrive and adaptive suspension, they look really boring imo. I'd like to get 19". What are my options in terms of wheel width? What are the downsides of going wider? What tires do you guys recommend? I live in a the South East where it never snows but rains pretty heavy. I know nothing about rims and tires so any advice is appreciated, Thank you! |

1)st and foremost, what is your total budget, including wheels, tires, tpms?
2)what type of wheel face or style do you prefer? 3)since snows are not req'd, consider a max performance summer tire. however you may get all-seasons if it makes you feel better. they will not perform as good as a dedicated summer, though. a typical tire and wheel size you should consider is 235/40/19 265/35/19 wrapped on 19x8.5 ET32ish, 19x9.5 ET42ish. if you're not lowering you can increase to 245/40/19 275/35/19 tires i'd recommend are michelin pilot sport 4s, bridgestone potenza sport, continental extremecontact sport, if summer or michelin pilot sport all season 4 continental extremecontact sport DWS06plus goodyear eagle exhilarate, if all season again, your budget is required to get a more detailed recommendation. |

I want to keep it under 4K with the rims, tires and TPMS. I don't mind getting summer tires as long as they are safe in when it rains as well.
What do you mean by "235/40/19 265/35/19 wrapped on 19x8.5 ET32ish"? What does Wrapped mean? and ET32ish? These are new terms to me. Last edited by badninja99; 01-05-2022 at 10:45 PM.. Reason: Clarification |

$4K is a great budget. you can look at quality stuff. the tire "wraps" around the rim...one might also say "_____rims, wrapped with _____tires".
anyway what type of wheel style/face? and are you looking for looks? handling? combination? detailed questions receive better suggestions. |

I would take a look at Apex, they have great quality and a great reputation. Their site and customer service were incredibly helpful for me. I replaced my factory 18" 400M wheels with square 18" ARC-8's and couldn't be happier. Originally I was going to go 19", however maintaining the extra sidewall on 18's along with replacing the RFT with non-RFT's really helped with the ride quality being lowered on Eibach springs.

19x8.5 ET35, 19x9.5 ET45
235/40/19, 265/35/19 Michelin pilot sport 4s or Continental extremecontact sport, if summer. FYI summer are excellent in wet, in spite of what youd think by being called summer. Not good in temps below low 40s. Michelin pilot sport all season 4, continental extremecontact dws06 plus, goodyear eagle exhilarate, if all season. . Worth noting: if the vehicle is still under warranty, the dealer can decline diagnosing any xDrive or drivetrain related issue if the vehicle has non OEM tire sizes.

245/40/19 275/35/19 is another tire size combo that you may consider, that works with x-drive also, like this... https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1600820 also, the centerbore for your wheels is 72.56mm. smaller will not fit, larger is best with hubcentering rings... . So, after looking around I've narrowed it down to these 3 options: 1. 19" Vossen HF-2 in Satin Bronze https://vossenwheels.com/wheel/hf-2/ 2. 20" HRE FF-10 in Black or Satin Bronze https://www.hrewheels.com/wheels/hre-flowform/ff10 3. 19" VRM V801 in black or Bronze https://www.vmrwheels.com/product-page/v801 I haven't heard too much about VRM's, are they recommended? Where do they fall in terms of quality? I really like the HRE's but my local tire guy is pushing me to get the 19" Vossen. He's telling me it won't be a comfortable ride and cost way more for tires. Unfortunately the FF10's start at 20". If I chose to go with 19" Vossen (8.5”, 9”, 9.5", 10", 10.5") what size should I get? For the 20" HRE's, The sales rep suggested:Fronts - 20x8.5 ET30 Rears - 20x9.5 ET42, is this a good fitment? Its for a 440i Xdrive with the adaptive suspension and hasn't been lowered. if Vossen, 19x8.5 ET30, 19x9.5 ET40 with 235/40/19 & 265/35/19 for xdrive if HRE, the sales rep suggested the correct specs. tire size for xdrive, 235/35/20 & 275/30/20, or 265/35/20 if not available. imo, your local tire guy advice is spot on, i'd get 19" Vossen all your meshy type choices will be difficult to clean and keep clean, jus sayin'.. even if less practical, you should get what you want, though. you want the feeling of "Yesssss" with no regret, when you look at your car ^^ . I placed an order for the HRE FF10's in F20X8.5 and R20X9.5. I need to get some TPMS for the wheels, should I go OEM or AF? Is there a real difference? Also wanted some advice on the Bilstein B16 Coilover kit with Damptronic. Will the ride be too harsh? or will it help with the new wheel size? I want to be able have a comfortable ride , so I'm trying to see if oem suspension will be good or not https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...255980#reviews |

the 20" tire sizes are taller than OEM and will fill the gap, so you will have less gap to reduce. ALSO, you do not want to lower too much because, the half shaft angle changes and pulls the shaft out slightly, so x-drive should not be lowered more than 38mm. ideally, just lower the least amount necessary to achieve the desired appearance. Bilstein monotube design dampers tends to ride firmer than twin tube "macpherson" type dampers. for coilovers i'd go for KW. there a bit more expensive but will have a better ride. again, the less you lower is better for the front axles. tbh, your case i'd just do, Eibach Pro-kit RWD(or x-drive, lil higher) lowering springs with F80 bump stops and retain OEM adaptive. here some threads of a few on Eibach Pro-Kit on x-drive, some with adaptive https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1901058 https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1765870 . AF was a typo I should have said aftermarket. I don't want to lower it if I don't have to. I didn't know if I could get aftermarket TPMS sensors. Are these the coilovers you were referring to? https://www.kwsuspensions.com/produc...-39020029.html What springs should I get if I'm not concerned to about lowering it, should I still get the Eibach springs? |

in your case i would just get Eibach Pro-Kit springs and F80 bump stops. after you get the wheels installed, you'll have a better idea which Pro-Kit to get. either least-low or next-lower, which is 15mm lower in front but same rear. aftermarket is TPMS is fine. they're typically the same without the BMW branding. |

Thank you for helping me decide on what to get, I got the HRE's installed a few days ago and I'm in love with them. The ride is better than in expected, small bumps and lines on the road are softer thanks to the non-runflat tires but the larger bumps are a bit harsher. What tire pressure do you recommend? Here are a few pictures... |

snapperrocks blue with bronze shoes looks epic!
eibach pro-kit with F80 bumpstops will really enhance final appearance for tire pressure, i'd prolly run 34 front, 37 rear and see how that feels |
