Dealer can't install alarm!
Took the car to the dealer the other day to have the alarm installed. They had it most of the day and couldn't finish it because of software problems on their end. Anyone else hear of this problem?

There was a point back in 2006 when software problems prevented the oem alarm from being activated, it took 3 progman revisions before it was addressed. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if BMW messed up again.

It took my dealer two days to get it installed. I got it installed about a month ago. The dealer said it was a software issue. It has worked flawlessly since installation.

I signed the papers on my car on Sunday. Here it is Friday morning, and I still don't have it. Dealer said he was missing a part for the alarm.
the oddness of the situation is that the dealer gave me my trade-in as a loaner. So, my old car now belongs to the dealer, but I've been driving it for a week since the purchase.

I guess you're lucky if they can get the job done in a day. I was warned that it would take a full day, and if there were any software problems, the programming would need to be restarted, which would be another 6 - 8 hours. Another unique feature of BMW!

I love BMW and their Internet Explorer Active X based updates. Works flawlessly every time...not.

Same here. My 09 E93 had to stay hooked up to the computer all night to download all the software. Alarm does work perfectly.

I am looking to get an alarm system installed on my 07 328xi. Can you guys tell me if you get an upgraded key fob, or does the original key fob work with the alarm?
Thanks in advance. Darren |

What did it cost to have the alarm installed at the dealer?
