UK shipping
Hello,
My M240i was built at the end of January and is due to be shipped across to the UK for an alleged April delivery. The 2 series hasn't been released here yet and won't be officially until Mid March and as such has me wondering if they'll just ship over a large batch of cars and if so, which carrier they'd likely be using? I've ordered new cars before so have been able to track deliveries, however coming from Mexico I'm unsure as to where where would come from/to and what companies would be involved in doing so. Can anyone offer any help, I've already tried the genuis but they're unable to help that much. Thanks |

In terms of tracking I believe we do not have the option to track like they do in the US as far as my dealer told me. Once upon a time we did in the UK but no longer apparently. Fingers crossed ours both come on time 👌🏽 Where in the UK you situated ? |

I'm County Durham based, yourself?
I've seen a few on here find out what ships/shipping companies were used and was just curious as to if anyone knew which ones were likely to be used to bring them to the UK. I've been told w/c 4th April as delivery so the chances are they're on the same boat. |

I'm based London and if it's anything like VW they will be on different ships, as cars headed for Durham use to go to different ports than cars for the South but who knows it maybe different with BMW. I was told week 13 so just hoping for the best. Been told no spec has been removed though which is good news. |

Probably closer to the time you may be able to use this link
https://www.marinevesseltraffic.com/...-tracking.html Example ship is MAERSK NIJMEGEN which was in tilbury docks on the 17th, if you can find out which port bmw cars will go from, I know USA guys have mentioned it on here somewhere, you maybe able to find the ship Last edited by Dynamodux; 02-13-2022 at 01:46 PM.. |

The very first batch of customer ordered m240i’s in the whole of europe is expected for delivery in week 10 (2nd week of March)
Don’t know if this would also include UK orders. |

Check out some shipping line company's websites, try to identify routes between MX and your closest port. NYKLine and wallenius wilhelmsen are two common RO-RO shippers for BMW. Once you find your route, try to find ships scheduled on whatever your approximate dates might me.
That's what I did, ultimately didn't have confirmation until BMW genius told me the ship name so it's up to how much you want to obsess over the process |

My dealer has come back to me today to state the car is expected with the garage in the UK mid March so hopefully its part of the consignment leaving for Europe. Its evidently been brought forward a couple of weeks which is always promising!

As far as I am aware they go straight from Mexico and then to dealerships and all final checks are made at factory before they depart. It also wouldn't be very efficient in my opinion to go through the whole build in Mexico to then send them to Germany for additional checks. |

It's fascinating to look back at your post from a year ago, discussing the anticipation of your M240i delivery to the UK. I'm curious to know if your car journey went smoothly and if you're currently relishing the thrill of cruising in your new ride!
The intricacies of international car shipping can indeed be quite puzzling. Importing vehicles from afar involves a multitude of factors, including logistics, carriers, and routes. For future reference, services like https://www.a1autotransport.com/california-ca/ can be a goldmine of information when it comes to vehicle shipping. They offer insights into the process and could potentially assist in demystifying some of the complexities you faced. Last edited by AlexCameron; 09-05-2023 at 06:29 PM.. |
