Anyone considering a G42 M240i Xdrive
It is getting very good reviews, including from Car, where it has just won a test against the RS3 and A45. I've just ordered one and I see JustChris chris is posting in the forum. I also have a 911 on order but it is going to take so long by the looks of things that I'll probably cancel that. The M240i has similar performance by all accounts...
I expect it to be better than the car it replaces as it is based on the 3er platform. My favourite review so far: This is my particular order (good discounts via the park lane scheme): |

It's Brooklyn Grey over Cognac which doesn't photograph particularly well
I've avoided the shadowline (above) as I'm not a fan of black wheels and quite like the contrast with Cerium accents and wheels (below) |

What a coincidence I have just come off the phone from the Dealer about one of these.
I am waiting to hear what deal they can do but more importantly the lead time. |

I will be paying cash and have a very long relationship with the DP so I would be wanting 10% plus at least but if the lead times are October that puts it right off the table anyway. I just need a stop gap until the Porache arrives which could be late next year. |

Yes. And maybe you need to do your IAM test. Six weeks and £150.

No idea about JD6. I did mine on a motorbike in Surrey with police instructors. Amazing tuition. Examiner was one of the Met's accident investigators. Great feedback. And amazing social stuff.

I was due to start in autumn, but a backlog and then Omicron got in the way of that. As it happens I had my first observation drive today. So shouldn't be long until the test.
For those of us who aren't armed forces, police, NHS, teachers etc, it seems like the best way to get a decent discount on a BMW at the moment... |

I did the IAM tuition and test not that long ago - maybe 5 years.
I’m 99% sure the whole lot was £20. I wonder if it’s gone up or if I was lucky with some special local group scheme...? |

Hi DougMcL yes it's an intruiiging option… seems I can't hide anywhere
![]() I love the look of it in Melbourne Red with Cerium trim and the Cognac and also the new Cadburys colour ![]() Main issue is I know I will see the M2 and want that more, I just wish the G42 hips were a bit wider. The M2 camp cars look girth tastic but I do really 'need' an M. The specs, price and performance is spot on. I am awaiting a sit in the back on March 14th when they're in the showroom. How about this money shot for the 2er forum of the G42 M240i in Melbourne Red. Colour balance is off but very nice looking. My two old 2ers were some of my favourite cars, M235i manual and M2.

It's a cool looking car. It's got a bit of character and personality about it. Need to get up to speed on the reviews.

Wears Portimao very very nicely too and will match up with the black seat stitching.
That red image from previous post and this one of the PB are best images I've seen to date. Like your spec Doug, sunroof is no brainier and win over the M2 also (CF). Will report back after a sit in 14/3 ![]()

I'm tempted by the 4 but can't see many benefits over this! Last edited by DougMcL; 02-22-2022 at 01:09 PM.. |
