Ptp turbo blanket and manifold after 8,000 miles

This is an update on my experience with the PTP turbo blanket and exhaust manifold blanket. After 8,000 miles they have disintegrated. The buttons used as fasteners are not attached firmly enough and have fallen off.

Edit: Update, they told me after their 1 year warranty I'm SOL and that you shouldn't remove turbo blankets after installing them.

Yikes. You can always run this heat shield. I know it's not the same as a turbo blanket or exhaust wrap, but it should some what help. I have one installed on my car.

Yeah I noticed that, but if you go to shop and pick BMW, it lists it for B58.

I've contacted them to confirm.

Just wondering, whether these turbo heat shields can lead to heats getting "trapped" around the turbo manifold as opposed to the heat dissipating in the engine bay? None issue? Asking because i too was looking at the Ross's heat shield, but i think the second once would give even better coverage to contain the heat around manifold to not sip into the engine bay?

Yeah, just called them and gave my MY of 2019 and they said i need 2 port version. Huh? Then realized he was talking about Supra and not the BMW B58 which Gen1 and Gen2 both are 6 port cylinder heads. Right?

I do see that TU turbo heatshields are different from Gen1 B58 turbo heatshields. Hopefully theirs fit the Gen1 B58 through doesn't say specifically.

Yeah he (Clay) emailed me back with a vague response. I replied back asking if he's test fitted it onto a BMW B58 and he just said it'll fit a B58 engine as long as it has a 6 port manifold.

Picture of B58 on their web site is from G20 so that would be Gen 2 B58 fitment they are showing.

I don't know if Gen1 B58 will have the fitment, and they do charge ~15% restocking fee.

Yeah, unfortunately the Verus B58 heat shield will "not" work on our Gen 1 B58, so will need to go with the Osprey design.

The Verus design depends on that extra heat shield piece toward the front of the car, which Gen 1 B58 does not have hence the Osprey design extends to the right most bolt where as Verus stops at the second to the right most bolt.

I think Verus does have better overall coverage though.

So the logic here is you need this heat shield with an open intake or it is just a superior heat shield even if you leave the stock intake.

Stock intake shouldn't need this since there is already a heat shield, big one, that is attached to intake resonator box, in our G01 X3 M40i's with Gen1 B58's.

The open intake, like BMS, may benefit from this.

Even for closed intake like MST, which i have, should, ought to benefit, i.e. wouldn't hurt.

Also, kinda looks nice with it.
