Highest Mileage 35d?
Hello all,
I picked up my 335d in January at 66,000 miles and have already managed to put 10,000 miles on it - safe to say I'm loving the car, but given the high mileage I'm doing I'm starting to think about longevity. Has anyone here put 150,000+ miles on their 30/35d and how are the cars holding up? Is regular servicing as per the schedule enough or do I need to be more proactive with regular oil changes, gearbox servicing etc? |

There’s loads well over 100k without any major issues from reading previous posts on here, though I can’t comment on mine as it’s a 2014 on 50k miles lol!

Hi there
I'm in +130.000 miles on my 2015 435d GC. No issues other than normal maintenance. Been running with a tune and bigger IC since aprox 65.000 miles. My former E91 330dA is still goIng strong at aprox 375.000 miles. Been running with hybrid turbo, IC and tune for the last 200.000 miles at aprox 320hp. No big issues other than maintenance. They are strong as long as you take care of them

I'm on 132000 miles on my 335d.
Took my old e91 320d to 204000 miles before I sold it, see it around and it's still going fine. |

I've just ordered discs and pads all round for my car as they're down to a few mm at the back and about 4mm at the front. Also squeal like hell!

I sold my 335d a few months ago with around 150k miles on it. It was doing absolutely fine.

I’m just about to hit 100k this week in my 2013 330d Stg1 ECU.
All good, just regular maintenance. Key things as I hit 80-100k - Discs all round (not sure if they’d been done before) - Front control arms (bushings had gone on the larger arms mainly) - I did an auto transmission service (ZF8) - oil and filter change, plus front and rear diff oil. - New shocks - it was floating big time especially the front end. I went with coilovers incidentally but you could just go OEM / B6 |

My front control arm bushes were leaking around 85k miles approx, so bought replacement arms from autodoc, quite easy to fit. Shocks and springs were replaced by a b12 kit when I purchased the car.

Yesterday my 2015 F31 35D surpassed 230,000 miles (all but 45k of those during my ownership over the last 4 years). Aside from scheduled maintenance the timing chain was replaced at 100k, gearbox oil and filter changes at 80k and 170k and shocks were replaced around 120k

Feeling reassured
This is reassuring - I've just bought a 2016 with 51k on it.
Now that we're not locked down anymore, I just need to find some places for me and Midnite to go! 😎 |

The engines should be able to take a lot of miles if looked after. It's the rest of the car around it you need to keep on top of lol.
My dads 318d (obviously not the same engine) is on nearly 170k miles. Engine is fine, but has needed a new rear wheel bearing, battery, brakes etc. All expected stuff with a lot of use. The door seals have gone on the front too.

Thinking of picking up a LCI F30 335d with +-130 000 miles. (the car in question kinda fell into my lap, its a one owner vehicle, FSH and well looked after. I can get it at current trade value)
Im not new to BMW diesels, however I have not owned one with such high mileage - any concerns or preventative maintenance I should be looking at? I was thinking: 1. gearbox service 2. all fluids change inc diff 3. DPF & EGR - what action needs to be taken on this front? 4. Are the timing chains issues on these cars? 5. Suspension refresh, if needed. Considering the cost of the above and possible additional issues, should I rather pass on the car and look at a newer model? |

ZF recommend the box be serviced 60-80k miles; so if its not been serviced then yes, it's well overdue TBH. Should cost c£400 IIRC All fluids and diff fluids agree; not a tough job and parts aren't expensive; an easy DIY on the drive really more so with a Pela pump down the oil dipstick DPF & EGR - if the cares running fine and there are no error codes stored for them; they're fine I'd say Timing chains can be an issue on them if the oil changes haven't been regular enough; they're not as prone as the N47s IIRC though And suspension/brakes etc - it'll be all down to the age on the parts and how well they've faired/how well the brakes are I've replaced the brakes all round on my F31 since Jan last year when I bought it 12 months ago; oil & filter changed twice and it'll be due it's 3rd change soon enough (I change oil & filter every 6months for peace of mind) My F31 goes to my pals tomorrow to have every part of the suspension replaced (on all original 2015 parts bar 2 rear arms) and I'm having the full cooling system overhauled as well) All parts sourced via Autodoc and Cotswolds BMW It'll be like a new car when I get it baqck; but better I'd say it's all down to how capable your DIY skills are to do some of the work yourself and then if you've got a good indy to take on the rest for you
