idrive knob very hot.

I have just pruchased a 330e and noticed the idrive knob is always very hot. Has anyone else noticed this with their car?

Mine definitely gets pretty warm, noticeably so when I’m on a long drive and it did the same with my previous F30 too. I guess whether it’s normal or not depends on just how hot yours is getting

Mine gets very hot on sunny days and when the sun is shining onto it... I was not noticing it until recently because my head was in shade, but the knob was not... Other times it is less hot...

Yes and even more so when it's sunny out. Not something that the 5 series i came from used to suffer with. Hopefully it's nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the replies, my F31 320d I just sold didn't do it so noticed it straight away coming into the 330e.
I have opened the rear vents for cool air in the centre consul which has made it cooler

Did your F31 have the small or large iDrive knob? I've noticed the cars with the smaller iDrive knob don't seem to get warm, but ones with the larger iDrive knob do. I presume this is down to the touch recognition hardware in it.

I've been on a 4 hour run up to Scotland this week and noticed the idrive knob was very warm. Hadn't noticed it until now but appears it's quite a common thing.

My F31 started out with the smaller knob then I had it converted to the larger one along with the infotainment system but that never got hot like this one.

It seems nothing to worry about with all the replies reflecting the same issue.

I just noticed an unusually warm controller knob today in my 2024 330i xDrive LCI.

This is the first time I have noticed this hot knob. I've had the vehicle since 15 June 2024. I replaced the factory gray controller knob with a crystal knob about 10 months ago. This knob does not see warm in a healthy way. Does any one know the cause or what can be done to keep it cooler?

All I have seen on the internet is a lot of "me too's" regarding this matter. TIA.
