G80 M3C X-Drive vs. RS6 Avant

Anyone previously own a RS6 or move to one from a G80?

If so, how does the interior space compare to the G80? Would you rate practicality much higher than the G80?

I have a chance to potentially acquire a RS6 and wondering if I should make the switch from my '22 M3 X-Drive. I have no doubt the RS6 is slower, softer and less-engaging than the M3. But, I've got a few young kids and I probably won't go tracking / canyon driving for a good while. And I love the looks of the RS6.

I was looking for an allocation for a RS6 for a long time before lucking out on a M3 allocation randomly. Recently thought that I would trade this M3 in when the M5 Touring comes out, but an opportunity came up to get a RS6 sooner.

I currently have both, and have driven a friends M4 comp x drive a lot so I hope I can chime in. The RS6 is much more of a great all arounder, it's perfect for our kid and large dog. It just had more bandwith all around. I find myself driving the RS6 about twice as often as the M3, even though I got the M3 for myself for the daily commuter car. I would go for the RS6 any day. At the risk of offending people here, it's a more "special" car.

No doubt about that. You will see M cars everywhere. You will see the RS-6 rarely

I've seen 1 RS6 Avant in our city of 1 million. There are maybe a dozen G8xx (mine still gets stares and shouts and cameras). And adding to other threads, I see at least 5 C8 everyday. So glad I didn't take my two C8 allocations over the past few years. That rear end, ugh. Anyway, back to topic, I don't have pets or kids or haul cargo, and I'd take an RS6 without hesitation if the slight chance to acquire was a possibility.

Would you not buy a used 1? They are out there

I'd buy anything with a warranty and good price. Good price in this economy is relative. I like to keep my Japanese brand cars for many years past warranty, my German cars are sold/traded when warranty runs out. I take the depreciation kick to the teeth knowing the fun for 4 years is worth the pain.

I hear you. Gotta be a certified Pre-owned one out there. If I can't get a Z06, Rs-6 will be my next project

Garage List
RS6 has been on my wishlist for a long time.

However pricing just doesn't make it attractive enough here. Plus, Audis seem to lease terribly compared to BMW's in Switzerland.

I looked at C7 and C8 RS6s and apart from looking amazing they are just too expensive and too slow. They do respond to mods pretty well.

To put in perspective the current gen C8 RS6 is slower than an M550ix in a straight line and around a track which means it's a lot slower than a G80 xdrive.

But you will always look cooler in an RS6.

Ya, I’m definitely giving up speed for more practicality which I’d accept.

Prices aren’t great, I was looking at an OK deal. Paying more than MSRP for used ones is a bit much, hoping I can score one for something more reasonable. These aren’t Porsche GT cars.

I beat one pretty bad 50-160ish. I do think it is a more special car. I moved to the g80 to track it.

I sold my C8 RS7 to get a Jahre G80 and couldn't be happier. Mine was tuned and much faster than a stock G80 but felt very heavy and had a lot of torque steer. 4 wheel steering was nice though. They are great cars but dynamically are nowhere near the G80. I did prefer it over my F90 m5 though which seemed dated compared to it.

I also do love the Avant but find it a tad overpriced. Would take it over the M3 since it is more special, but the price delta is too much, still waiting to see used ones drop more in price.
