G82 M4 v 992.1 Carrera T
992.1 Carrera T just announced:
https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a4...ra-t-revealed/ Car and Driver claims it could do a sub 3.0 second 0-60 (w/ the PDK). Granted, it's not a drag racer... Anyone here cross shopping M4 vs this?

I specced one out at about $123k in Python without the buckets (because I wouldn't want them). It's not about the sticker price though, it's about what you'll actually pay in ADM and wait time. The 911 is the only "T" badge Porsche that's really cool, in my opinion.

My dealer told me no ADM and I would be 5th in line for a "T."
The problem was getting the actual allocation situated as it is a smaller dealer, for what that is worth. I am not cross shopping a T and a M4 at all, although one might compare the two. The T appears to be a decent sorted 992 with a more sporty lean than a luxury or GT lean to it. I highly doubt it can do a sub 3 second 0-60 time in real world application. I have the same engine in my cabriolet and it is plenty quick, but not nose bleed head rush quick with a sub 3. I know my cabriolet is a heavier girl, but no way a T pulls that off in stock form. That being said, it is a quick and awesome car. |

Awesome car. I had a 991.2 T and that car was such a joy to drive and the track times and capabilities far exceeded what one would have thought. On VIR it was on summer tires for Lightning Lap and did a 1:53.4 yet the M4 GTS which had cup tires, 120 more hp and 150 more torque (based on factory ratings) only could do 1:52.9. Effectively the T would have been faster by some margin on the same tire.
The 992 looks like it's going to be expensive. With options, it's a 130-150K car and IMO for that price it's a bit insane. |

Agreed, the current market for 911's is still absurd. It's the only reason why I couldn't justify one. I've seen a 992 CS Cab with 15k miles go for $180k here, lightly optioned. You could buy a sub 5k mile 2019 570s for that price, or a nearly brand new mclaren GT. If you like Audi's, an R8.
The 992s have been phenomenal, but I don't think they are worth what they cost right now. The Carrera T will be the same no doubt. I think HeelToeShift is on the money with that number. $150k for a CT is ridiculous. PS: Car and Driver is the Viagra of 0-60 times. |
