Saskatchewan M3/M4 year round daily?

With the x-drive model, how feasable is it as a daily driver in Canadian weather with a great set of winters?

I live in Calgary and I daily my 340i x-drive since 2020, drive about 40,000km per year with no issues. Good winter tires area must. I work with my detailer to ceramic coat the car and add on additional PPF to keep the car looking great despite all the winter driving.

When my 2023 M3 RWD arrives later this month I will daily it as well.

If they put pea gravel on your roads in the winter like they do in Alberta then your windshield might get more beat up or you have to replace it more frequently.

I'm in Sask and daily. Went with the BMW Winter Tire package, P ZERO Winters. They're nothing like a Nordic Tire but handling on snow and ice isn't terrible for a high performance winter. Car is full Ppf and ceramic. I took delivery earlier this year so I didn't get much of a chance to drive in any -30 and below temps. Only other issue I could see is ground clearance on some of the residential roads with those huge ice ruts that are left unplowed for like 2 months.

Absolutely. I live in Ottawa where we don’t have temperatures that are quite as consistently cold as you guys but we got a ton of snow. My winter tires were Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 and they were absolutely fantastic. Long drives on the highway with lots of snow.

I did get PPF to the front of the vehicle and ceramic coat. Tried to wash it at the touchless car wash every two fill ups. As I inspect it now in the spring, there is really no significant damage that I can see anywhere.

Drive it all year and enjoy it. Good luck!

Taking delivery of it this week. It’s a 22 M3C. I will be looking for a wheel set sometime soon.

What is the norm for winters. Still staggered? Or do people just get the same size all around?

19's all square is easiest if you don't go with the BMW set. Tolerances are tight for x-drive. You'll have trouble finding winters for the rear that keeps you within that if you stagger. Lots of threads about it on here. WheelsCo sells some decent packages and they're Canadian if you go that route.

Make sure 18" winter tires do not go on the front otherwise your calipers will get all scratched and hacked up. 18" rims come standard on the M3 in the United States and and many drivers there with the 18" wheels have gotten their calipers all scratched up due to rocks/pebbles getting in between the tight space.
