Dash economy readout
Recently had the EGR cooler replaced as per recall and three fuel injectors replaced. 2015 X328d. 98,000 miles.
Prior to this work the dash fuel mileage usually indicated 37 to 39 mpg which was within 1 or 2 of a computed value on fill up. Now the dash readout indicates +/- 45 mpg but the computed value have increased only slightly due to a mission with more freeway driving. Any ideas why this may have changed? Does the dash readout take into account fuel used to clean the DPF? |

If I'm understanding correctly, the displayed values are higher now, but your pen and paper calculations haven't changed nearly that much? The dealer would definitely have cleared long term learned adaptations, so those values will settle.
The display takes into account for all fuel use, as understood by the engine ecu, but a lot of calculations and adaptations are involved. Depending on the fault with injectors and/or EGR, those can definitely influence the mpg negatively when faulty.

If the values don’t realign (from the on-board computer and your brim-to-brim/App calculations) you can adjust the OBC mpg calculation using the hidden menu.
I did this a few years ago for my 330d and the OBC fuel economy figure has typically remained within 1mpg of the fuel usage calculated by my Fuelly App.
